I think LOST is the only basic TV drama from the past season that even deserves consideration, but I can think of a few other cable dramas that are deserving of a nom like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and THE SHIELD. |

Damages Dexter Lost Mad Men The Wire Friday Night Lights just misses the cut, unfortunately. |

I can't believe Grey's even made the top 10, last season was pretty shitty. It'll be a travesty if it makes the final cut.

This is why the Emmys suck ass. Whenever they get something right, it's by accident.
Plus, I hate how cable shows with nudity, profanity, and no commercial breaks are allowed to compete with the big boys, who have the FCC and advertisers to fool with. Not to mention a little thing called "ratings." Still, that's not a horrible stinker of a list. I would've liked to have seen How I Met Your Mother, Medium, and Burn Notice in the fray, but the Emmys have crapped the carpet worse. I love FNL, but there's no way it deserves a nom for season 2. Same for the past BSG season. Does anybody know what eps of each show were submitted to the Academy? I recall NBC or someone last year had each submitted ep online at something like greentv.com or something. Are any of the nets doing this again? |

TOP 10 COMEDY Curb Your Enthusiasm ("The Bat Mitzvah") Entourage ("The Day F***ers") Family Guy ("Padre de Famila") Flight of the Conchords ("Sally Returns") The Office (??) Pushing Daisies ("Pie-lette") 30 Rock ("Cooter") Two and a Half Men ("Rough Night in Hump Junction") Ugly Betty ("Something Wicked This Way Comes") Weeds ("Go"). TOP 10 DRAMA
I can't speak to the comedy because I only watch a few of them. As for drama, House submitted poorly (should have picked House's Head) and FNL submitted excellently (season 2 wasn't great but this episode with Matt and Smash's meltdowns was excellent). Lost submitted really well. I'm hoping The Wire can sneak in even if it ultimately doesn't win; it deserves the nomination for 5 years of excellence (even when it wasn't great, it was better than 90% of Television). I haven't started Mad Men yet, but I heard their choice was wise. Hope: The Wire, Lost, FNL (for ignoring Season 1), House (despite the poor submission), don't care |

Probst has to come up with his own shit and hosting those challenges must be rough sometimes. He deserves it. On the flip side, Probst gets to fix his shit in post-production and dub over his mistakes. Seacrest is live all the time. |

The Samantha Who exclusion is a surprise, but Christina Applegate is a lock for a nomination. I love that she's
been able to maneuver her career from playing a bimbo to being a well-liked and respected comedianne. This is a great list of dramas with the exception of Boston Legal and Grey's Anatomy. I'm sad Big Love didn't make it, but maybe Mad Men or even
Damages will sneak in now. I think House, Lost and the Tudors are a lock, with the Wire a big question mark:

I'm not so sure The Constant was the best bet for Lost. Yes, it was a great eppy, but people who don't watch the show won't give a fuck that Penny
and Desmond finally got to talk, and may just wonder wtf is going on.
I agree, House should have submitted House's Head, or Wilson's Heart. Easily the two best episodes of the season. |

Flight of the Conchords is my favorite show from last year, but its too quirky to be recognized (and The Office, which has similar lowkey humor, is more well
known) and I personally dont think its submission is the funniest, or even funnier than half of the episodes.
