If a guest actress "has" to come from that HIMYM episode, it needs to be Sarah Chalke, who was friggin' excellent -- i.e. her usual -- as Brit's boss. Maybe a guest actress nom can be a "shit, we're sorry!" make-up to Sarah for years of being ignored when she was the best thing about "Scrubs". I'd be fine with a Chalke win, but otherwise I'm hoping for "30 Rock" to grab lots of hardware!
Reportedly, "Rosemary's Baby" or "Greenzo is being submitted for Best Comedy. Both are strong choices ... RM has the most memorable moments for me at least. Alec Baldwin submitted RB, too, and I wish that Tina Fey would've followed suit ... or gone with "Sandwich Day" ... her airport scene alone coulda won her the Emmy. Instead, Tina went with "Episode 210".
Meh, but no biggie. I think that Christina Applegate should -- and will -- win for Samantha Who ("The Restraining Order") CA's a marvel in that show, and that eppy was peerless. Jean Smart equals her most weeks, so hopefully a nom in Supporting Actress is in the cards for her.
30 Rock has ALL KINDS of greatness in the guest actor category. Will Arnett ("Jack Gets in the Game"), Matthew Broderick ("Cooter"), Paul Scheer ("Rosemary's Baby"), and my fav Dean Winters ("Subway Hero"). It'll be sad day if that shameful informercial of a guest shot (worst moment ever for 30 Rock) by Jerry Seinfeld ("SeinfeldVision") is rewarded. OTOH, for Guest Actress, Carrie Fisher's turn in "Rosemary's Baby" was absolutely terrific ... still makes me chuckle.
Reality Competition! Can Amazing Race make it a six-peat? Dunno, but they chose an episode that showcases ALL of the things that make the TAR franchise the Rolls Royce of reality elimination shows. "Honestly, They Have Witch Powers" ... the eppy where the Goths start the leg in last place, trick Rachel & TK at the airport, make mistake after mistake and comeback after comeback, turn on each other for the first time (that we saw) ... and are ultimately eliminated. Idol, DWTS, and Top Chef all had by many accounts "mediocre" seasons. Any other contenders? Does Project Runway have enough clout to pull of the upset?
