Zora, unfortunately I must have not come across that one while I did some of my background research. I'll give it a listen (unwillingly) and an honorable mention if it's awful enough

I'm such a terrible, tone-deaf music critic. All these covers sound fine to me...

Yeah I figured I'd get some disagreeance on that one. But I figured it deserved to be ranked somewhere, though on the bottom

13. "Beat It" by Fergie
Fergie's Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDO7MeYBHS0 The Classic Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uqxo1SKB0z8 Why On the List: Let me explain, first off. Is this list a slam on Pop music? Yes. So why include a cover of Michael Jackson, who's known as the "King of Pop"? Sounds a little hypocritical, huh? Regardless, Michael Jackson is unsurpassed in that genre. So I felt it was necessary to include a lesser version of the same song. Oh Fergie, what on Earth were you thinking… For the first time on our list an artist has simply killed a song. The first two were moderate failures. This one borders on murder. The editing tries to make her sound like Michael himself. And that just once again shows Fergie's blatant lack of talent. 2:30- 2:44 is simply Fergie screeching, "You want it? (3x) Come get it (3x)" Not sure why she felt this drivel was necessary to add. In fact, not sure why she felt it necessary to record in the first place. Why not higher: Much worse has been recorded, as you'll hear tomorrow. -----------------------------------------------------
Honorable Mention 1: "Beat It" by Fall Out Boy
FOB's Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI-0Hgu8mUk
Why an HM: There's really no comparison between the two. The "edgy" version by Fall Out Boy messes with the original too much. It's simple as that- the transition simply doesn't work. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided to cover this song. Why not Officially on the list: It's tough for a "pop-punk" band to perform a song so engrained in
the minds of pop music fans. So I give them credit for that. But it's really no comparison. Plus, Donald Faison of "Scrubs" fame is in the video.
Sub-Honorable Mention: "Roxanne" by Fall Out Boy ----------------------------------------------------- Coming up Tomorrow:

12. "My Prerogative" by Britney Spears Britney's Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kaw6hfuQXQ0 The Classic Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdGyR9bXsGE Why On the List: To be honest, I kind of liked Bobby Brown's version of the song. It was relatively catchy, and went on to become Brown's first and only number one single on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 for a reason. And then Britney-the-song-crusher came and covered it 16 years later. As I watched the video, I felt as if I should do a running commentary. :01-:20 = OMG Why is she driving so fast, she's going to crash?! :26 = Yep, she crashed. Did she drown? End of video? :32 = Nope. Damn. :50 = I can't see a thing. Why is this video so dark?! :56 = You really don't know what to do about your sister, huh Britney? Maybe keep her off the boyfriend 1:05 = Finally, the chorus. 1:06 = Underwhelming vocals, per usual 1:19 = She's now rolling around on a bed. Lovely. 1:40 = Vocals just went from bad to worse. I'm out. Someone tell me how the rest was.
Why not higher: Out of all the Britney-cover songs, this one is least painful. Yet we have not seen the last of this beautiful (!) and talented (!) "singer". Coming up Tomorrow: |

11. "You Give Love a Bad Name"by Blake Lewis Blake's Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KazhPADt88 The Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GccfzxHIXaY
Why On the List: Electro-Funk-Pop can still qualify as pop, right? Well, I hope so, because that trio is how Blake Lewis
describes his music. Is you didn't suffer the misfortune of American Idol Season 6 (the Sanjaya season), you must have missed this one. Now I'm not
counting his Blake's AI performance as a cover song, as they kind of HAVE to cover songs for the competition. But Blake then goes and puts this abysmal
song on his own album. So it's legit. Any Bon Jovi fan that watched this butchering must have hated it. And for good reason. Blake Lewis beat-boxed his way
through Bon Jovi's first number 1 hit. He radically altered this song to fit his own personal style. Creative? Sure. Quality? God, no. It's odd that
Jon allowed him to sing this garbage in the first place…
Why not higher: I left this out of the top ten mainly for its originality. Vocally it sucks, but it can't
have been easy to arrange that song like he did. I'll give him credit for that. ------------------------------
10. "Just the Two of Us" by Will Smith Will's Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjheiI0BFqg The Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6W_p65E8RM Why On the List: I never got the Will Smith appeal as a singer. He's made some pretty good movies (Pursuit of Happyness, Independence Day) but I never liked him as a rapper. I always thought he was kind of…I don't know…corny. Mediocre, uninspiring lyrics for a love song. Not brilliantly arranged. He's got a certain sense of class, which makes him appealing. But his music was never anything more than average. Listen to the Bill Withers version. I guarantee you'll like it better. It's got a cool jazz background, as well as the original, untainted lyrics. Give it a shot. Why not higher: This was more of a sample, than a cover. He changed the lyrics/context, which basically changes most of the song. Plus, he sings it to his 5-year-old kid, which even a harsh critic as myself can appreciate. Coming up Tomorrow: |

Aww I actually liked Blake's version of that song. I thought that the different arrangement sort of modernized it and made it current. I like the original
version don't get me wrong. I think that both of the versions could stand alone and be as successful as each other.
