Not that there is anything wrong with that, mainstream taste isn't always a good thing. But what of it? Several of you have said that your the only Survivor
fan you know,I'm the only one I know who is obsessed with the show like I am(I know people who watch it, not as casual fans, but they certainly
wouldn't waste their time here recording their thoughts over it either). I think China showed that the audience likes smaller casts, no matter how
complacent people here have been with larger casts,so there is still mainstream interest. But Survivor fanatics do remind me alot of Trekkies

I don't see 15 million people at Survivor forums, so I doubt it.

It's been a show with a large cult following for years now. Over time, it's become less and less mainstream and more and more of a cult show, but
really that's been happening ever since the first couple seasons had ended and Survivor lost its nationwide appeal.
With that being said, it's still an incredibly popular show, all things considered, and its "small cult fan base" is greatly exaggerated. Like LSH pointed out, the ratings just don't support that idea. |

Yeah it's way too popular to be considered a cult show. Star Trek got horrible ratings and was canceled after 3 seasons. Survivor has been a top 10
Nielsen rated show for 16 seasons. That's a big difference.
Calling Survivor a cult show is like calling ER a cult show. |

Survivor may have become a guilty pleasure that many people don't want to admit that they watch. My accountant decide to pop in on me unexpectedly during
the Micronesia episode where Eliza played the "stick". This irritated me so I forced him to wait until the episode was over. While we were watching
it, he eventualtly volunteered information about Ozzy, James etc. which you would only know if you viewed regularly.

i dont get it to be honest...all the other shows that get high ratings which i watch, such as the office and lost, everyone always talks about. survivor gets
more viewers and no one i know talks about it except those who i force fed it too. i still dont know where these 15 million viewers are coming from because i
get made fun of if i ever tell anyone i like the show. but once someone making fun of me actually watches it with me they get really into it. so to me it feels
like a cult show, but the ratings say otherwise. ill always be confused

^Same here. One time this guy I know was looking over a newspaper article and said "Woah. That guy looks just like Richard Hatch". I asked him if he
watched the show and he was like "Yeah". So I tried to talk to him about it, and he had no clue what I was talking about. And another time, back in
middle school, this other guy thought he saw Rudy. Then I started talking to him about Survivor and he was totally clueless as to what i was talking about. I
hardly ever mention my Survivor viewing habits unless someone brings it up and seems genuinly interested. It really does feel like a cult show
