Both acts of Romance/ Romace are based on existing material. What about CHICAGO? Was that based on anything? The play and the movie Roxie Hart.

Making a musical out of Legally Blonde (or anything that's current) is much different than using an old book. Hell, if they wanted to do a musical of Gone with the Wind I wouldn't roll my eyes as much as when they turn a current movie into a musical.
