I too didn't like the concept of Jason "owning" the Crystal Lake camp and slaughtering whoever dares venture on it. Jason was always presented to us as a nomad who basically kills everything in his path. You're definitely right about them making him look more like Leatherface.

I also found it a bit contradicting when the old lady said he wanted to be left alone, yet Jason clearly goes out of his way to kill the stoner and the second batch of teens whom were all minding their own business in their homes. I also didn't like the fact that she knew who he was like he was a legend in those parts. Jason should be unknown to all. Should you meet him, you don't live to tell about it.

And why is it that in so many of these slashers you always have a hermit, usually an old person who knows the killer, knows what's going on, knows what happens to all these dissapearing teens, but chooses to deny it instead of calling the cops? Doesn't that make them as bad as the killer?

Because Jason finds you when you try to hide. At least that's what a lot of poor schmucks found out the hard way in the old series.

In the same lining though, why didn't the chick who was stranded in the water just stayed there and waited for that fucker to come swin after her? If he does, then you can easily swin to the next shore and have a big lead over him. Provided he doesn't take out the bow and arrow of course.

One thing I learned in this remake is that Jason has fantastic aiming skills. Seems like if you outrun him, he'll catch you with any projectile.
