My dad and my family live in Cedar Rapids. When I talked to him earlier tonight, they didn't have any power, and everyone is making their way to my
grandmother's house which is up on a big-ass hill. He didn't sound all freaked out, said that he was hopefully out of harms way. Groundeeoso, are you
in CR? He's over by Jones golf course off Wilson...I don't know the city well enough to know if I should worry.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE LINED UP BACK INTO IOWA AND THESE ARE EXPECTED TO ROLL ACROSS SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN OVERNIGHT. THE RAIN WILL BEGIN TO DIMINISH OR END IN THE SAUK AND IOWA COUNTY AREAS BY AROUND 11 PM. MANY ROADS ACROSS THE AREA ARE FLOODED...SOME ARE WASHED OUT. RIVERS AND STREAMS WILL RISE QUICKLY AGAIN AND MANY FRAGILE DAMS WILL BE STRESSED EVEN FURTHER. IF RISING WATER THREATENS YOUR LOCATION...HEAD TO HIGH GROUND IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. |

Weather crawl across the top of the screen here in Chicago... tornado watch till 2 am for NE IL and Kenosha County, WI, and lots and lots of flood watches and
warnings. Lake County, IL is under a flood warning until 11:00 Wednesday. Wednesday!
And CA and the Southeast continue to be parched. |

Mother Nature needs her ass kicked!
Clear in Minnesota today after at least 2-3" dumped overnight. Two ducks were standing at my patio door this morning staring in...even they're tired of this crap. Looks like it's refueling again here...parts of the state are under a severe thunderstorm warning AGAIN! Fer the love of god...think of the cows! CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - From Iowa to Missouri, officials in the flood-ravaged Midwest were frantically sandbagging, watching weakened dams and rescuing residents from water that in some places rose knee-high, while storms threatened more damage in the Upper Plains. Several tornadoes touched down in Minnesota's Nobles, Murray and Cottonwood counties, damaging trees and farm outbuildings, as well as in eastern Nebraska. In Minnesota and North Dakota, strong winds closed a highway and even sent a cow into the air, a witness said. Winds gusting at 60 miles per hour were responsible for felling two semitrailer trucks near Fergus Falls about 10 a.m. Both directions of Interstate 94 were closed. At 2:15 p.m., the westbound lanes were reopened, and the eastbound lanes were reopened about an hour later. |

Angela, I am seriously considering PMing you my cell phone number and having you call me if there's a tornado warning issued for the Dells. I don't
have my weather radio with me!!!!!
And for extra added fun, when I get back home to the lovely state of Iowa (IF I can get back home due to the closed highways, etc.), I will be sandbagging around my office building, just like in 1993. It was surrounded by water then, and it's gonna be again early next week. FUCK. |

OkieCristin wrote: Not in CR but I go there a lot. I can definitely see that area flooding if it isn't already. Most of Czech Village is under, and I know the roads along
the river are all flooded. Unfortunately I can't find the map that shows which areas are in the 500 year flood plan =(

I can't either, which sucks.
I'm watching their streaming news, and a levee around a sewage treatment plant in Animosa just broke. Yuck. |

Your parents would be just off the southeast corner of the map (you can just see Wilson). ETA: The Mercy Medical Center that is pictured on the map? Yeah, they have at least 3.5 feet of water already.
