I'm so going to miss the trainwreck of Bella Starlet and Beth Joy when they leave us in 20 or so minutes.

I wonder if we might be in for a not-too shocking boot of Travis (whatev) and Presley (him I'd miss a little)?
Long as Bill/Star and to a lesser degree Laurie/Andrew and ok, Theresa/Leroy stay, I'm good. |

The fight between the wound up British wench judge and obnoxious American skank judge was the highlight of the season so far.
"SO DO YOU THINK YOU'RE THE GOD OF DOG TRAINING?!" "YES I DO!" "OH GET OVER YOURSELF" <3 |

NOOOO BELLA STARLET WAS THE NEW LASSIE! WORST, MOST BORING FINAL 5 EVER!!!!!! All of my favorites were pagonged in the middle
Two dog abusers in the final 5 as well. They'd decapitate and eat their dogs for the money if they had to. |

Exactly. I'm watching this show for the dogs. If I wanted to watch dysfunctional people behaving badly, I could tune into just about every other reality
show on the air.
I don't even care if the people are boring, because the dogs are so entertaining to watch. |

I really love the show!
I do have to agree, I watch the show to see the dogs compete, I did however get attached to Bill and Star they are a great team. I do not think the heads up challenge helped Star and Presley LOL! Bye Bella Starlet. Theresa and Leroy are awsome they are my 2nd choice to win the big prize. |

It's not like the dog really tried to keep the dogs together and herd them out. He just found his way out and the puppies just happened to follow him. I think in this task, it had a lot to do with luck. JD helped galaxy by telling her to stop and let the puppies catch up. But again, the dog was just following the directions of his owner. Honestly, how could andrew really lead 3 puppies who each had a good deal of size and weight over him out? Can you imagine that pomeranian dog doing this? The judges 'fight' seemed so contrived. I honestly don't see what the uptight British judge got so wound up about. I know the subtext behind this episode was JD's training style vs. Laurie's, but I don't see how/why this task got her so upset. All he did, as far as I could tell, was give his dog voice commands. You'd think he wrestled her to the ground and shoved her nose in the puppies rear ends by the way she acted. And so one minute the judges are fighting, the next they are complimenting each other. I wonder what happened in those moments in between? LOL. And poor bill and star. Yet again, the British judge had a stick up her ass. If he had just quit, she would've bitched that he gave up on star too quickly. I think it was a double edged sword for him. Either way, she would've been disappointed in him. She just seemed like a real bitch tonight. In then end, though, I'd rather see tasks like this than "dancing with your dog" or "dog painting". |

I didn't get what the judges were going on about with JD?! I mean I don't like JD, but what did he do in that challenge that had the judge all
freaking upset? Did I miss something?

ITA about Leroy getting lucky. actually, i knew he would be good at the task anyway - isn't he some sort of herding dog? there's a dog that looks a lot similar in breed that I see at my dog park all the time, and she is a total herder. It didn't even look like Leory's mom had to be there. That said, I agree it's nice to see them back to normal dog challenges... after the last couple weeks I thought they might throw in a challenge involving critiquing of english literature or summat I'm kind of sorry to see BJ and BS go, as they were the comic relief, but their days were numbered anyway. Bill and Star are so clearly being edited as the underdogs, it's starting to get slightly annoying. That's not their fault, just an observation. |

I don't doubt that luck could've had something to do with Leroy and the pups getting that task done so easily. I was on my PC while I was watching this episode and when Leroy's turn came, I saw how he and the pups quickly seemed to take off as group for the exit. I looked away from the screen for several seconds and when I glanced back again, Leroy and all three shorties were out of the maze and in the presence of a happy Theresa. I also noticed that the jidges were looking very impressed. So, I honestly don't remember if during the course of the task he was actually in back herding them or if they just ran behind him out of the maze. I'm kooky enough to wonder if it's possible that the luck, could have come in the form of Leroy's strong instinct to herd being a vibe the pups picked up on, which in turn might've caused them to stick with him wherever he wanted to go. Then again, they're puppies who were clearly in fun!play!fun! mode. So, there's also a good chance that particular trio of little goofballs would've happily galumphed after any large or not so large moving object heading out that maze

So, I honestly don't remember if during the course of the task he was actually in back herding them or if they just ran behind him out of the maze. They just ran out behind him. Leroy never turned back or seemed to give the puppies a second thought. In fact, none of the dogs did. Each dog was intent on getting out back to the owner. |

Leroy gave them puppies a 'lil "Bah Ram Ewe" speak while they were in the holding pen - so that when they were set into the maze, everyone
knew what was expected of them. |

I think there was a bunch of stuff edited out about JD's training style. But I'm not surprised there was a fight about positive reinforcement vs old
school styles of training. I'm a member of APDT (Assoc of Pet Dog Trainers) and I love going to the national convention just to watch people fight about
training styles. Pretty much all the people there use reward based training, but watch out if you mention a scruff grab or alpha roll. God forbid someone
brings up Cesar Milan because the place starts to riot and throw chairs.
I don't get too worked up about it. If it works for you, great. I don't believe in hurting an animal, ever! But a leash correction done the right way isn't going to kill a dog. I think it's like spanking your kids. Every now and then you need to give them a smack on the butt when they are completely out of control or are in danger. And don't worry. This is a reality show. All these people are crazy. Now that Bella's crazy mom is gone, new levels of crazy will be exposed in the house. I think Laurie has pretty decent trainwreck potential. |

i believe you have to pick the training method based on the dog and its personality. i have a black lab that showed up here one day and is the most lovable
dog i have ever known. food treats are not even required as he will do whatever i ask for praise and petting. he's like a great big black andrew.
on the other end of the scale, my jrt required that dominance be established. i went through trainers with "clickers" and trainers with treats, all with no results. it wasn't until i met a "frau blucher" type trainer that we got him under control. it wasn't bullying of fear, it was strict adheriance to who was in charge in the relationship. he turned out to be a great dog. its not one size fits all. it depends on the dog... oh, and for anyone needing a puppy fix: http://www.chilloutzone.de/files/08071701.html |

X I basically saw NO DIFFERENCE in the performance between Theresa/Leroy and Travis/Presley. The only difference was in the fact that the puppies for no apparent reason chose to follow Leroy and not Presley. I wonder if the fact that Presley got to acclimate to them the day before was actually a DIS-advantage, in that the puppies weren't as curious or excited about him as they were about the new dogs... |
