Ep 5 recap

Bill is still homesick. Misses his wife, kids, etc. Teresa comforts him and says she likes him cause he reminds her of her grandfather. Brandy is upset and keeps yelling at Beacon to sit. Beacon just stands there motionless. Brandy dresses Beacon up in clothes - which if she had a brain she wouldn't do after the Bella Starlet fiasco. Laurie starts criticizing Brandy for "humanizing" her dog in the way she treats her. Brandy gets defensive saying her dog has feelings. The consensus of the house is that dogs have feelings but not human feelings so treat them like dogs not humans.

Host announces there is no more dog house element (it took them 5 weeks to realize how pointless it was). Instead, the winners of the dog bone challenge will get a "Leg up" in the elimination challenge. The dog bone challenge was a narrow balance beam across some mud. There were two beams; one for the large dogs and one for the small dogs. Fastest dog across wins. Only 2 out of the 8 dogs made it across. The other 6 jumped into the mud and were disqualified. The 2 that made it were Leroy (Teresa) and Star (Bill). Leroy was the faster of the two so Teresa/Leroy win. Teresa then asks the host if she can give up the dog bone suite to Bill so he can get pictures of his family. She knew he was feeling down and the pictures would help motivate him to stay. The host says if she does that then she will also be giving up the "Leg Up" advantage in the next challenge. She says Ok and Bill/Star get the win.

Bill gets pictures/letters/whatever from home and shares them with Teresa. He says he owes her one big time and she'll be on his Christmas card list forever.

Elimination challenge theme is coordination. Trainers will have to dance with their dog to music. Each team gets a different music theme which they just sort of chose themselves. While practising JD is thrilled he got Hip-Hop - can't wait to show his moves. Laurie says she can't believe nobody else wanted ragtime so she gladly took that. Brandy and Travis are shown having some difficulty where their dogs are just not into it. Brandy has a melt down when Beacon just stops responding to her. Travis comforts her saying to relax and Beacon will come around. While Teresa is practising with Leroy, Bill offers some advice which Teresa is very appreciative for. Bill had noticed a change in her voice resulting in a change in Leroys actions which she needed to change. Teresa is concerned about Leroys constant barking. Bill gets his "Leg Up" reward which is a professional choreographer to help create a routine. He practises with star and the choreographer who had worked with artists like 50 cent, Rihanna etc...."all Bill's favorites" lol

3 Hours before challenge. Brandy is finally getting Beacon to cooperate with her. Her theme is ballet and it actually looks promising - she has Beacon tiptoeing around on her hind legs.

Challenge:
Laurie/Andrew - Ragtime. Simple dance moves where Andrew responds well to Lauries baton. Judges love it.
JD/Galaxy - Hip Hop - great moves such as both JD and Galaxy rolling on the ground in unison- judges love it
BethJoy/BellaStarlet - Broadway - a bit clumsy, dog refuses to jump over umbrella - judges not liking it
Teresa/Leroy - Disco - Given credit for clever dance moves, but critisized for Teresa not enjoying it. She had an angry face the whole time while she instructed Leroy. Leroy barked a lot.
Bill/Star - Rockabillie? buggy? - Judges very impressed. They can tell Star enjoyed it cause star started running around the set afterwards. Bill confesses to the reward and teresa's kindness.
Brandy/Beacon - Ballet - Beacon never got up on her hind legs like you'd think. Instead one of her ballet slippers fell off and distracted her during the routine. Judges not liking it.
Travis/Presley - Western - Presley starts out ok but then the dance just becomes obedience commands. Judges not liking it.
Laura/Preston - Salsa - Laura's plan is to drop little treats around the floor to get the dog to move. Judges say it was just that - the dog running around looking for treats lol. Plus Preston failed to do a couple moves Laura tried such as jumping up onto her chest at the end. One judge called it horrific.

Winner is...Laurie/Andrew. Perhaps not the best dance moves but judges want to recognize her good training of Andrew.

Bottom 3: Laura/Preston, Brandy/Beacon...and Travis/Presley. Brandy is sobbing, wispers "this sucks" to Travis.
Brandy is eliminated. As she leaves Travis says to her - Give them a smile you did great. Brandy says Beacon is her Greatest American dog and that's all that matters.

Off the record, i will miss Brandy. But Beacon had just checked out this episode probably due to Brandy's stress.
