Candice (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Snowpoint City Gym-Ice Trainer) Candice really seems out of place in her city. I mean, I don't know if she spent many years training her body to withstand the cold, but seriously, her outfit is as stupidly out of place as those douchebags who walk to school in the wintertime wearing shorts and sandals. She's an Ice trainer, which would be cool if non-Glaceon Ice Pokemon didn't suck so much. The only reason she makes the top 20 is because she's the only sexually attractive gym leader from DP. 19. Wattson (Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: Mauville City Gym-Electric Trainer) Wattson is definitely a fun little man, and he's not just a gym leader, but in fact he's in charge of a lot of stuff in his city. He seems pretty knowledgable about stuff, actually. His main reason for such a relatively low ranking is because he's an old guy, he's from one of the later games, and he honestly doesn't play that big of a role in any of the RSE games from what I've seen. Plus, Electric types tend to be boring and use just Pikachu, Magnemite, and Voltorb. It's Surge all over again. 18. Morty (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal: Ecruteak City Gym-Ghost Trainer) Pretty much the entire reason Morty ranks this high is because training Ghost-types is badass, and he's not an annoying Frenchwoman that pales in comparison to Rousseau (R.I.P.) Honestly, he's pretty much like one of those countless guys in reality TV that is just there to look pretty when, in fact, he's really boring. Morty is like the Memphis of Pokemon GSC. He's a Ghostologist, not a Gym Leader. 17. Crasher Wake (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Pastoria City Gym-Water Trainer) I hate Water trainers almost as much as I hate Water Pokemon, but it seems that the two non-RSE Water gym leaders both made it relatively high on my list. Wake wasn't really special for anything, but it's his design that really makes me put him up as high as he is. He's like, trying to be a luchadore in a Japanese video game. As a result, if Chuck is like Randy Marsh, then Wake is like Batdad, and I can picture the two of them fighting it out. 16. Janine (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal: Fuchsia City Gym-Poison Trainer) It take a lot of balls to train a gym full of Poison-types, given just how shitty of a typing Poison is. Janine gets props from me for that reason alone. She's a ninja, which docks a couple points (pirates...and Bellsprout 4 lyfe yo), but she makes up for it for being at least somewhat cute. Her gym is actually taken over for her dad, Koga, and she turns it from a gym of invisible walls into a gym of invisible walls and chicks that all look like Janine. It's a unique gimmick to say the least, but overall, nothing all that special.

Other than that, he's boring and features one of the most annoying gym puzzles of all time, a slippery floor. Also, his Pokemon are basically just the Ground pigs that I'm not too fond of. Nothing else to really say about Pryce, except one time my game glitched and I couldn't face him because I couldn't beat the Radio Tower in Goldenrod. That's it. 28. Chuck (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal: Cianwood City Gym-Fighting Trainer) I hate the way Chuck is basically as secluded from the rest of the world on an island, and not in the cool way like Blaine. He's not on any sort of path between two cities. He's just off in a corner of the world all by himself. Add to that the fact that Chuck just seems like one of those fat, middle-aged guys that thinks he's a lot stronger than he really is. He reminds me of an unfunny version of Randy Marsh from the Little League episode of South Park. Also, Fighting gym leaders aren't that great. 27. Fantina (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Hearthome City Gym-Ghost Trainer) Fantina is French. That in and of itself should be enough to explain why she's this far down on the list. But that's not enough. She's also got one of the ugliest hairstyles I've ever seen on a human being in the Pokemon universe. Thirdly, Fantina follows the pattern of Giovanni and Norman in that you reach her gym, and yet you can't fight her until you've beaten several other gym leaders. But unlike those two, Fantina comes late enough in the game that it's like, why the hell don't you just let her fight me when I get to the city. She ranks this high because of how cool and Ghost gym leader is in theory. 26. Wallace (Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire: Sootopolis City Gym-Water Trainer) Wallace seems like such a massive diva, only I think he's supposed to be straight. He's supposedly the strongest trainer in the region, and yet he doesn't handle any of the shit that your character gets sent off to do. Hell, he's closer to Kyogre/Groudon than you are...he should handle that shit himself. Wallace leaves in Emerald to become Pokemon League Champion, but that shit doesn't matter because he's a crappy Water trainer. Overall, Wallace is just another massive tool and I don't really care for him. Lt. Surge looks like SF2 Guile. Sonic Boom!

Falkner (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal: Violet City Gym-Flying Trainer) Falkner, up until I started doing this write-up, I thought was spelled with a "u", so you learn something new every day. Falkner is the only initial gym leader not to use Rock-types, which makes him unique compared to Brock and his two rip-offs. Falkner just seemed like a really cool guy to fight first, and birds are usually a cool typing for Pokemon. The only negative is that in the games, he comes so early that he doesn't really have a diverse team, so you only get to fight a couple of Pidgeys. 14. Misty (Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal/Fire Red/Leaf Green: Cerulean City Gym-Water Trainer) As mentioned previously, I hate Water trainers, and Misty is no different. In fact, I'd say she's one of my least favorite gym leaders overall, from her bitchy attitude to the fact that she abandons her gym leading duties to make out with her boyfriend. The only reason she makes it this high is because she's a main character in the anime and as such, she's much more developed as a character. But seriously, she sucks ass in the anime too. Her relationship with Ash really pisses me off. 13. Gardenia (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Eterna City Gym-Grass Trainer) First off, Grass-types suck, and the training of them as a full team is ridiculous. Gardenia is BASICALLY just another run-of-the-mill gym leader from DP, but what sets her apart is the random, crazy love she has for her Grass-types. The the point of masochism when seeing James' Cacnea. This bitch is crazy and would make for great television, especially if they cast her for Big Brother. 12. Winona (Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: Fortree City Gym-Flying Trainer) And this marks the last of the Flying-type gym leaders with both of them falling in the same update. I don't really have anything all that special to merit Winona's high placement aside from a few small things. For one, I love her design, from the long, blue hair to the aviator cap that's reminiscent of Amelia Earhart. Another positive is the fact that she has a shiny Swellow in the anime, which is pretty cool, given how rare shinies are naturally. It makes her all the more badass. 11. Volkner (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Sunyshore City Gym-Electric Trainer) And now we have the highest ranked gym leader from Diamond and Pearl, just outside of the top ten, which really shows something about the lameness of DP's gym leaders. Volkner ranks the highest because he's the last one, and with that comes a certain level of cool that somehow managed to elude Wallace and Juan. Volkner's so much of a tough guy that he won't even face you until you prove you're not a complete pussy. And he's hot. He's the complete package!
