They somehow manage to get people to talk to them, and they have said that the story came from multiple sources. You see, things work kind of funny here in Hollywood. Reps and publicists are paid to do a job...and that often involves leaking information that might be seen as negative or sensational. Any publicity is good publicity, as they say. You can't really understand that warped mindset unless you've lived around and worked with this crowd. One of the firms I work for does nothing but entertainment law...and trust me, there's a lot of dirt out there and they actually have meetings to discuss how they will handle a situation when it "breaks" in the press. I actually sat through one once where they were composing a series of statements to be used depending upon how and when a certain story broke. They knew it would get out, it was just a matter of which "friend" or "agent" would leak it first. Frienemies isn't just a funny word, it's kind of a way of life in Hollywood. Anway, YOU were the one who has said multiple times that they went into medical records. How do you know that? You been asked multiple times, why won't you answer the question? Oh, and re the artificial insemination? You you don't believe that? I'd love to get your take on that.

Tabloid is a TV show that you can watch with the whole family; it's a newspaper you can read in a subway car with people peeking over your shoulder. Tabloid is the ability to tell any story- no matter how sordid or shocking- to any audience, to the Queen of England, as we used to say, as long as you tell the story the right way. 1 TMZ is embarrassing to read. Its stories and headlines have been lewdly-written, lacking the style and grace that tabloid requires. It's pervy and porny and crass and dirty and nasty and ugly. And though they have taken our advice and cleaned up their act (insiders tell us so, and recent headlines reflect it), TMZ still offers tasteless banners like yesterday's "A Little Animated Bush for the Kiddies" and the embarrassing Billy Ray Cyrus "Achy Breaky Fart" report. 2 TMZ markets pornography. I'm not even considering the plug they gave to Mantra Films and its "Guys Gone Wild" gay porn videos ("pole sliding not allowed," they wrote) on Thursday, but the major marketing campaigns they conducted for porn DVDs including the kinky, coprophiliac "Screech" sex tape (which TMZ in a nauseatingly disgusting turn, named "Saved By The Smell") and one featuring non-celeb Kim Kardashian (hyped with the promise of a urination scene). In both cases, the site that's owned by AOL and Time Warner began by posting a series of titillating, teasing clips, leading up over days to the announcement that the DVDs were available, with links to the purchase points. It seems obvious that TMZ or someone in editorial control, is getting a cut of the proceeds. 3 TMZ takes cheap shots. 4 TMZ is nasty. In a town full of legendary, hardworking professional paparazzi, TMZ takes the cheap way out by giving inexpensive PD-150 cameras to kids, and ordering them to hang out in front of nightspots at two in the morning to harass celebrities in hope of a confrontation. We took a stand against this back in the mid-90s, when the people who took over Hard Copy from us, used "stalkerazzi" cameramen to provoke celebs (oddly, the same people now run the tabloid TV series Extra, which spawned TMZ). And when the celebrity is provoked to respond, TMZ lambastes him, as they did with Woody Harrelson and Matt Dillon. In the case of Gary Dourdain from CSI, they actually called him a "c**ksucker"! In print! 5 TMZ celebrates celebutards. There are great Hollywood, entertainment, political, and high society stories to cover. Who cares about these young do-nothing girls? TMZ has done more to destroy celebrity journalism- and these young women- than any other Internet outlet. 6 TMZ is out of touch with America. Again, it gets back to morality. TMZ is, at the least, amoral. Its worldview is that of the Hollywood types who live and play within the exclusive "thirty mile zone." While it purports to want to be a Confidential magazine or Walter Winchell, exposing the secrets, it actually basks and promulgates that twisted Hollywood morality, and celebrates, rather than criticize, it. Like the most powerful in Hollywood, TMZ wants to be feared. 7 TMZ is bad tabloid. TMZ is supported by corporate millions and wants to be feared. It spreads a kinky worldview. It has no sense of fair play. It's poorly written. All of my complaints about TMZ have been stated in the past about other misguided tabloid ventures. My book Tabloid Baby, from 1999, shows how these mistakes killed the genre in the 90s. And now that TMZ is headed to TV, they're making many of the same mistakes. Don't try to "educate" me, lest you forget that I just said I WORK with these type of people every single day. I don't disagree that TMZ is vicious and sleazy. Most people in Hollywood are. But all you've done is copy and paste an opinion piece that from some semi-famous blogger that was cross posted on another blog. A blog that uses "blogspot" of all things instead of its own web presence? Yeah, that's reputable...dear. Besides, it says stuff we already know. What you fail to recognize and comprehend is that despite its' puerile and egotistical nature, TMZ still manages to post accurate information a great majority of the time. Case in point...they posted about Elliot Yamin's mother passing away. That's a fact. They also did it in very poor taste... something TMZ is known for. That still doesn't negate the fact that their information was accurate. So, I'm going to ask you one last time... and I highly suggest you answer it... where is your source that TMZ rummaged through medical records to break this story? Whores that they are, TMZ doesn't lie when they say they've got multiple sources on a story.

I'm not disputing that either. What I am disputing is their information that it was by artificial insemination, which I believe was a deliberate misrepresentation. It doesn't surprise me too much that many people are ignorant about reproductive technology and don't know the difference between artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization procedures. I also question the source for the information that it is a boy. It might be, but that information is highly confidential and the basis for my statement that TMZ got it by illegally accessing their medical records. The truth will come out. We have plenty of time to wait for it. I have no doubt that there is an investigation and if caught, like the snitch that snooped in Britney Spears' hospital records, they will be prosecuted. Neither Clay or Jaymes has given an interview or a statement yet. I think they were shocked that their privacy was invaded. The people who have been cited as sources are either peripherally connected [ Jaymes' brother's ex ex wife, David Foster's manager], distant step relatives, Eric Roberts (who Jaymes told that she was pregnant last March but did not divulge who the father was but he offered that he had recently heard who the father is, from TMZ no doubt) or former AI contestants who only gave their opinions that Clay always wanted children and will be a good father. Multiple unnamed sources can be anyone from the dog walker to the stepson of the brother's ex wife. They even interviewed people who don't know either Clay or Jaymes to get opinions. A blog that uses "blogspot" of all things instead of its own web presence? That blog is the personal blog of a well known reporter, Ray Richmond, for The Hollywood Reporter which does have its own web presence and is syndicated. He blogs about issues he wants to address personally. TMZ still manages to post accurate information a great majority of the time. Which means that it reports inaccurate information often enough to draw the total disdain of the other tabloid and gossip media. TMZ is not held up by anyone but you as a credible source for the truth. How sad for you. Nikki does have some fans here (including me), but it's a fair guess that she would been crucified by Sucks had it been around during the season. Some of the favorites are a bit unusual. A lot of people still miss Angela Peel, who I barely remember. Getting back to the current discussion, I don't know if anybody has pointed out that each of Clay's CDs since Measure Of A Man (in Clay's case, probably about 3 inches) has sold about 40% as much as the previous one. Assuming he releases a new CD each year, and this trend continues, here are his projected current/future CD sales: 2008: 200,000 2009: 80,000 2010: 32,000 2011: 12,800 In reality, If the first half of this pattern actually occurred, it's very likely 19Evil would dump him and the last 2 CDs would never get made.
