Desmond's on the helicopter but he can't be an Oceanic survivor because he got on the island randomly - he wasn't on the flight.

My gawd... the agony Sun must have experienced... not only did she know her husband was on the freighter but she actually SAW him running for help and then the
explosion. That'll give me nightmares.
