Why it's #26: Because in the anime, Charizard was awesome and proved to the world what a joke of a trainer Ash truly is. Why it's not higher: Did you know a 1st Edition Charizard from Base Set 1 costs upwards of $120 today? No piece of cardboard is worth that.  Except

It's a sad state of affairs when this is what you have to look forward to from your starters nowadays. Methinks my Chimchar should have pulled a Bulbasaur and never evolved.

Fire starters hatred!
Charizard and Blaziken are overrated. Typhlosion is <333. Infernape is not only overrated, but considering how the Elite 4 in D/P was arranged, it makes it entirely too powerful. Oh, and Kingler/Gardevoir/Flygon/Houndoom/Ludicolo/Hariyama = Net Battle ownage. Seriously, Kingler took down an entire team. Blastoise/Vulpix/Gardevoir/Breloom FTF4! |

25. TIE - HAUNTER + GENGAR
 
Why they're #25. Seriously who doesn't love Ghost Pokemon? And this evolution line was our only option for a looooong time. Why they're not higher: Um...they made such a big deal about ghosts pwning psychics, yet in 1st gen they were weighted down by the poison subtype as well, making Gengar worthless.
Honorable Mention: SPIRITOMB 
These days, there are ghosts galore. But none even come close to the usefulness of this one. Zomg Ghost + Dark = no weaknesses! Pain in the ass to get too. |

Gengar is one of the best Ghosts. It tops Mismagius given Mismagius doesn't try copying Gengar when Gengar does everything better anyways except maybe
perish song.
