This show looks to be a rip on MXC which is on Spike TV. MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge) is one of the funniest "game" shows on TV. If you
haven't seen it, try to catch an episode or check out you tube for clips.
There are 2 things that make MXC funny... one of them Wipeout will have, the other it won't. MXC has insane stunts (it's from Japan and the people in that country will do almost anything on a game show) which Wipeout will have... but MXC also has a dubbed "storyline" or sorts. The always make the show two themed teams competing (one was Aged Child Actors vs. Porno Stars) and the dialog is hysterical. Wipeout won't have that

This is a direct ripoff of MXC. The challenges look exactly like to those on MXC. You're right, chuck - this knock-off will suffer without the dubbed comments from the participants and the bawdy commentary by the "Chairman". I wonder if they will feature the "most painful elimination" of the week ala MXC. |

There was also this show that used to come on either ESPN or ESPN2 every once in a while. It was called The Hardest Obstacle Course in the World. I don't
know if anyone else remembers it, but it was also Japanese. It was set in a theme park and had different levels of obstacle courses. Like if you got though the
first obstacle course then you would get to attempt the second, harder course. Anyway Wipeout also reminded me of that show.

Yeah I'm going to give this a try too. I don't think it will even come close to being as funny as MXC though. The funniest MXC event (which I hope
Wipeout does) is the one where contestants have 3 doors to choose from to run through but only one is paper and the other 2 have a wall behind it. Watching
people run full speed into a wall is one of the greatest things ever.
