I'm not sure how much of this is balance. Running through walls on a treadmill, men swim faster on average and so much of this shit is swimming, jumping up
slippery stairs jumping over barrels and grabbing a wet rock wall and trampolining. All strength stuff.
Nothing like Ninja Warrior then again they are not here to test the greatest athletes this is more for the average American. And for laughs of course. Then again I haven't seen Kunochi so I should go and Youtube that so I can see your point better. |

What did they have last week instead of "dreadmill"? I think that event sucked up their reserves. But it was funny to see them go flying!

'Talent' Wins Out for NBC TuesdayABC's 'Wipeout,' FOX's 'Hell's Kitchen' also solid
Fast National ratings for Tuesday, July 1, 2008
ABC and FOX got decent performances from "Wipeout" and "Hell's Kitchen" Tuesday, but they weren't good enough to dislodge NBC from the top spot in the ratings. NBC averaged a 6.6 rating/11 share for the night, winning the overall race by a comfortable margin over CBS, 5.3/9. ABC came in third with a 4.2/7, with FOX close behind at 4.0/7. The CW mustered only a 0.7/1. The adults 18-49 race was closer, although NBC still led with a 2.8 rating. ABC and FOX tied for second at 2.7. CBS drew a 1.5 and The CW a measly 0.4. CBS' "NCIS" rerun, 5.5/10, led in households at 8 p.m., but "Wipeout," 5.3/10, had more viewers and a better 18-49 number. "Celebrity Family Feud" earned a 4.7/9 for NBC. "The Moment of Truth" delivered a 3.2/6 for FOX, easily beating a "Beauty and the Geek" rerun on The CW. "America's Got Talent" moved NBC to the lead at 9 p.m. with a 7.2/12. CBS got a 5.5/9 from "48 Hours Mystery," although "Hell's Kitchen," 4.9/8, drew a few more viewers. ABC fell to fourth with "I Survived a Japanese Game Show." The CW trailed with "Reaper." At 10 p.m., "America's Got Talent" improved to 7.8/13. "Without a Trace" posted a 4.8/8 for CBS, and "Primetime: The Outsiders" drew a 3.7/6 for ABC. |

I forgot this was on and only caught the final wipeout zone (or whatever). Definitely not as fun. It's the qualifying rounds that make the funny! I
thought it was weird that everybody had so much trouble with the spinner thing this time around. That one dude even broke it! Was anything different about the
final wipeout course?

i'm with meatball. we think they sped up the spinner from last week.
i loved how they all jumped at a gap in the spinner, since by the time your body gets there, that gap has turned into a tackling dummy that is going to knock your ass into the drink. no duck hunters here. but i would pay money to conquer the big ball course. hell, yeah! W00t! i couldn't do it. but i want the video of my effort. *boing-boing-boing* and i want to do that big slide thing at the end (no foam please) when they are launched off that inner tube like a mile into the water. hell, this whole course could be turned into an amusement ride at six flags or universal for fucked up thrill seekers. i guess the injury/death settlements would preclude that. fucking lawyers... |

There was only one girl competing in that round but even if there was 3 and 3, I doubt more than 1 girl would advance w/ the 3 guys to the Final Challenge. Guys can run faster than girls and have more endurance when it comes to that...no?

Regarding the spinner, what would they do in a case where the person in front of you gets hit by the spinner and that person hangs on to it, instead of
dropping into the water. Now you have not only the spinner to jump over, but you have to jump over the idiot hanging on to it as well! Do you get to cry

I've wondered that too, because quite a few times a person has hung on the thing, only dropping right before it got to the next person, which understandably fucks them up.

The previous show was probably the pilot for the show and they tweaked the final obstacle course, adding the foam, a faster spinning spinner..thing, and
waterfalls between the final trampoline set.
The dreadmill looks impossible for a woman to complete, and I do wish they would even things up just a bit. Add a few more balance or endurance tasks where the females might prevail. I think that if the out of shape peeps think they cant win or even get close, they will not apply and they are alot of what makes this show amusing. Carla Guy is still reigning big ball bouncing champion! This past week I howled at the comment about the rocket speed of the treadmill slowing the contestant down, when it was just an inclined ramp. And the woman who was going slowly and then quit was hilarious. This show is gold. |

I think they're going to tweak the course every week so it will never be exactly the same. Maybe some weeks it will be easier for a woman. But that part
doesn't bother me at all. Doesn't matter what sex goes at it. A winner is a winner.

i don't care who wins. that last big challenge kind of sucks anyway.
i do care about the first two challenges. those are funny, punches into the mud and folks bouncing off balls... they could make this show 45 minutes long and i would be fine with it. |
