Carrie's came from a place of anger, while George's is longing and desperate. Both work, but George's is more in step with what the song is supposed to be about and the emotions the song is intended to reflect and convey. It is after all, his song, one that he wrote and arranged. (He is a lot more than jut a voice, he doesn't get nearly the respect her deserves as a songwriter and producer.) Sick, old, or whatever, the man can still sing his ass off.

Carrie actually sang the lyrics how they should be sung, whereas George Michael just sings it as any other ordinary pop ballad (yes. Well, he honestly looks like a hospice patient. And I mean no disrespect to him (I've spent the last 3 weeks with my mom in the hospice, waiting for the end. She has that same pinched look.). I love George... I still have my posters rolled up from my Wham! days and no matter what my husband says, I am going to keep them till the day I die! His song, his emotion, it's just HIS. (but to hear him sound so weak and look so pinched and ashen has made me very sad for him. He is still my George...)
