And just for lolz (not to be confused for Lulz), I made up a game of "Literary Survivor" featuring 16 characters from famous works of literature. If
you know where all of the characters came from, then I bow to your well-readness (or competency at google searching).

Zeena was despicable, but the other two were not that great of people either. Still, her OTTN rating is justified. I'm sure some would consider an NN. Great chart! A Literary Edgic is a fun idea. Although I don't know many of the characters, it is still fun to see characters that I do know and see how others perceive them. Oh, and Holden Seething Hatred!

The edgic ratings are partly based on my own prejudices, hence why Silas is MORN and Finny ain't complex. In hindsight, then, Daisy could've easily
gotten an N.
Oh, and the student teacher in my English class when we were reading that called me Zeena. The only things we had in common at that point were the same starting letter in our name. She had about 40 years and a vag on me. In the event that I decide to have a second version of this, I'd probably include more people from contemporary fiction, like Hermione or Serena (because picking the girls was the hardest part of it). I'd deffo include Gene Forrester, since he is one of my favo literary characters (and could've easily replaced Tom), however I had already filled my easily complex male niche (other candidates were Nick Carraway and Huck Finn). Oooh, impromptu ranking! Top 10 "required reading" characters: 10. Lizzie Borden 9. Jordan Baker (in my pretend version of TGG, she and Nick basically say "Fuck you and your issues, Daisy" and go off far, far away) 8. Beneathra Younger 7. Piggy 6. Rosalind (from As You Like It) 5. Tom Wingfield 4. Nick Carraway 3. Haroun (from Haroun and the Sea of Stories) 2. Gene Forrester 1. Rosencrantz/Guildenstern (because Ros & Guil are Dead is like, the most amazing play ever) |

I guarantee you Tom will probably be the hardest to figure out. I'm surprised no one's piped up with a guess about Ignatius or Tess yet.

I'm guessing Jim is Jim Hawkins, though Long John Silver should have been cast as the Horse MacLoed of the season.
Tess = of the D'Urbervilles? Tom = the only other Tom I know is Tom Jones and he was pretty boring. Overall, all the colorful characters seem leave early in this fictional season. The only ones I don't know are Beneathra and Finny, which isn't bad considering our required reading list only had two novels on it (the rest was all Shakespeare, shitty British 60s-80s plays and poetry). If I can figure out how to do Edgic spreadsheets, I will probably invent a Season 2 due to it being Friday and work being boring. Or Literary Critics vs. Favourites

Jim is fairly colorful...and fairly colored (spoiler!)
Holden is also colorful (if by which I mean a combination of Cesternino and Fairplay) And it's basic Excel, y'know. Just make the border first and then the ratings and lastly the fills. |

I thought Holden Caulfield was more like BrianC (i.e. all-talk and no skillz).
Jim = Huck Finn Jim (or Jim Crow!?) |

Just a reminder that there are not 1 not 2 but 3 posts separating me and the 4 digit club. At that time I shall momentarily stop the Edgic talk and release my
pick for the Worst. (American). TAR. Team. Ever.

It's time...
124... Jonathan/Victoria (no picture, because I don't wish to muck up the pretty thread with them) So...yeah. Way to make multiple episodes of TAR uncomfortable. When I have to root for a fucking racist bitch to beat you to the pitstop just so that your abusive ways won't be affirmed, that's fucking sad. As much as we favor colorful characters, there comes a time when dickishness isn't tolerated, and Jonathan is that time (and she's not that much better). They are comfortably the worst TAR team. Ever. |

I haven't watched TAR in ages, but I remember Johnathan and Victoria and I agree with their placement at the bottom of this list. Ugh Chip and Kim FTW!
