Oh geez I wonder whose going to win?
Shawn and Gabe received concession speeches by the judges tonight. "If you win or lose, you are going to get a deal, blah blah." Melissa got the standing O, similiar to the first night, and I believe she has this thing won (well she has since the first episode). Her original song will be perfect to sing at the Olympics. For someone trying to win Nashville Star, why did Gabe sing two up tempo songs that are pretty one note and boring? He should have done a ballad. Anyways I don't really care, this shit aint the same without Ashlee. It was at least a two (wo)man race before, now it's a one horse race. |

Does anybody really care who wins? The important thing is, COFFEY LOST! This should be a time of great celebration!

Speaking of which, how's that loser of a winner of that season doing? Was his name Brad or something? |

The Nashville Star winners, and how they've done, courtesy of Wikipedia.
The first winner of Nashville Star, in the spring of 2003, was 41-year-old Buddy Jewell. On the strength of his win, Jewell's self-titled album earned him a gold record and two top-five country hits ("Help Pour Out the Rain [Lacey's Song]" [#3] and "Sweet Southern Comfort" [#3]) . With the release of a second album, Times Like These, Jewell was thought to have secured his place as a legitimate country music star. However, after Times Like These underperformed, selling only approximately 80,000 copies following its release, Jewell was dropped from the Sony BMG roster. In 2004, the second winner was 33-year-old Brad Cotter, who enjoyed very limited success after his win. Cotter won a recording contract with Sony Music on its Epic Records label. His first album, Patient Man, performed poorly, selling less than 140,000 copies. He was subsequently dropped from the roster. Cotter remains on tour opening for other country artists, such as Mark Chesnutt and Restless Heart. The 2005 winner was 18-year-old Erika Jo from Mount Juliet, Tennessee - the first female and youngest overall winner. Erika Jo's self-titled album debuted at #5 on the country album charts, but quickly fell out of the top ten, selling just over 118,000 copies in the year following its release. The video for the first single, "I Break Things", initially received heavy rotation on CMT and GAC, but the song was largely ignored by country radio and only reached #53 on the Billboard Magazine country charts. One subsequent single ("I'm Not Lisa") was released, but it also failed to attract substantial attention. She was later dropped from the Universal South roster. Erika Jo occasionally makes concert appearances and has become a semi-regular performer on (but not a member of) the Grand Ole Opry since her victory. The 2006 winner was 20-year-old Chris Young. His self-titled debut album was released on October 3, 2006 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard country chart, although it has yet to generate any top-40 singles. The 2007 winner of Nashville Star was 29-year-old Angela Hacker from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, who finished just ahead of her younger brother, Zac. It was the first time that siblings had competed, let alone finished in the top two. Following the season, Angela Hacker's album was only available at Wal-Mart causing it to not enter Billboard Magazine's Top 75 Country Albums chart. |

No wonder I never saw Angela Hacker's cd. Wondered what happened. I am surprised at Chris Young's cd and his not having radio hits because he is
so good live, and he has great songs.

Any show that calls itself NASHVILLE star, but disses anyone who sings country music... well, it's just BOGUS. A joke.
Not that I've heard much country music on this show in the past few seasons. Still, one can hope. I don't remember which of the original songs it was that was actual country music. I do remember that the judges immediately chastised the singer, telling them that it "isn't a commercial, radio hit". That actually made me cry. Not because of the song--it was obviously forgettable-- but because I mourn the death of country music. I wish they would just allow country music to exist while naming the pop/country blend something else and giving it it's own genre! Why call it country? No one called Rock n Roll by the name Big Band! No, they recognized it as a separate genre. I know no one is reading this by now... but it just irks me that a type of music that I love has been erased and something that is basically soulless pop with a tiny (sometimes non existant) twang has taken it's place. I can't speak of Jewel, having never heard of her until her hosting gigs, but John Rich makes me puke. his music is so far from being country, yet he insists to "love country music" and acts like he's an expert. whatever. I think he should just go ride a cowboy already, and leave music alone. |

Melissa wins! <3 YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
It was so obvious that she was going to win from the intro clip of the top 12 on the first episode. Her performance followed by her being in the bottom 2 the next night basically solidified it. Another chosen one wins due to rigging by the producers. I was so glad Gabe lost. I think he rode his way to the final 2 by being the best male. The judges really hyped it up like it was so accomplishment, when all the dudes sucked. He was average at best and all the other dudes should have been booted back to back to back. He was definately top 4 worthy though. Shawn was such a random Goddess that was basically on the chopping block each week. There literally wasn't one week I didn't think there was a strong possibility she'd be leaving. So her winning wouldn't have been too horrible <3. Thank God the franchise is over, this season ruined it.

I hope every person who participated in this farce of a program feels total shame and embarassment. Everybody involved should be run out of Nashville by a mob
with torches and pitchforks.

I'm hoping next year we go back to the old format, back on USA, with Nancy O'Dell and real country artists. However, it did good in the ratings so
chances are we are gonna have ti put up with the same garbage yet again.

Katie Cook and her wardrobe were the best parts of the show. She and her twins were the most memorable part of the show. I'd be fine with her hosting next time - if there is a next time. Nancy O'Dell was too robotic for me. Lee Ann Rimes was actually the best host, though Wynona and Cowboy Troy made a good combo. Bring back either Anastacia Brown or Tracy Gershon for judges. |

Itunes update:
Melissa has the #1 country song and #11 overall (of all/any genre). That's pretty damn good for a show that didn't even crack the top 20 all summer. |

I saw Chris Young in concert tonight and I like his new single. He played for almost two hours and I took some videos that I will eventually put on my youtube
