Because it seems from that conversation Amanda and Cirie had where they were semi-arguing over what the tiebreaker was and how it worked that it's one of those "you don't know for sure what it is until it's needed" (i.e. a pre F4 tie) things. And looking back, if the purple rock actually was/is still in effect, do you think there's been a situation where somebody should've forced it? Just wondering because I've heard some people here talk as if it's certain that the purple rock still gets used or that the "two people who're tied in votes get immunity and everyone else who doesn't have immunity draws rocks" (which seems beyond stupid to be completely honest), and was just looking for some clarification.

It's almost like if you KNOW that it's going to be a tie, you should vote for your secondary target over your primary one.

The purple rock debacle with Paschal made them certain they didn't want that again, I think, but I don't know that there's any other way to resolve a completely deadlocked tie if no one will budge.

I think it partly depends on which "side" has the person with individual immunity on it, though personally I think it firemaking works at 4, it could still theoretically work at 6 or whatever, but hey, I'm not a producer here.

Thanks for this Eliza, that's always interesting to hear about behind the scenes scheming. On that subject, there's a scene in Vanuatu after the tribe shuffle: In front of Lisa, Scout asked you who should be voted out if not one of the two guys. You had a confessional about wanting Lisa out after the Mia vote and you certainly wanted Scout voted out at one point. Was Scout trying to start a fight?

The producers know that fire making etc go against everything survivor stands for. They'll want to avoid it if st all possible. They know at F4 there is little other choice - other than the radom coin toss etc which is even worse.

Thanks Paschal's vote was at Final 4, they know they made mistakes allowing the purple rock to be played at that stage and it'll never happen again. The past votes count thing would allow people to force a tie and know the outcome if they knew all the previous votes. It's also difficult to explain to the viewer and would cause confusion.

Like....I think the ties that happened in Africa and Australia would still have happened if the Purple Rock was in effect then.
