What do you think about Probst making such a big deal of the fact that Spencer is a fan? I mean, shouldn't most people who are cast be "fans" of the show? Probst even mentioned that had Spencer been old enough, he would have been cast for Fans vs Favs.

Survivor shouldn't need a gimmick like fans vs favs to have a reason to actually cast die hard fans. More should be given the opportunity to play, it doesn't have to be a cast of 16 die hard fans, but I think more should be cast as they generally do well when given the chance.

I don't think I ever responded to this, but I'm sure my response is OBVIOUS. Of course they should cast more fans! I've always said that and always thought that. It's one of the reasons why I recommended Charlie -- he is a HUGE fan of the show and always has been. I am pulling for Spencer to do well, especially compared to people who were picked out at a bar or a taco stand and had probably never even seen an episode of the show before.

I watched Spencer's audition video, which was very cute, and it kind of reminded me of mine. I was in college and just talked about myself and talked about being a big Survivor fan, though I said "I'm sure everyone says this" and he said the same thing.

I think that they TRY to cast fans of the show, but maybe don't get enough people to fill certain demographics.
