I don't know what it was Kathy, I traded that black, cold shriveled little thing ten years ago for a Game Boy color.

Kathy... do you honestly believes that producers literally set fans for failure? |

Thanks Kathy for the purple rock explanation. You shut so many people up who said Cirie had no idea what she was talking about.

Thanks for the PROD rules Kathy. Interesting that the producers left their options open as to the color.

Don't be hatin on the PROD. It's a great way to make sure that every TC elimination will be because of a vote, which is kinda the point of the game.
Personally, the fire challenge is anticlimactic. What's more dramatic than forcing people to decide whether to leave their fate to randomness, or to
compromise, yet take their fate into their own hands?

I would love to watch it play out more than I would a boring fire challenge, thats for sure. Also, note that it doesn't take into account the hidden immunity idol. What if someone other than the two tied people on the chopping block had the idol? (I am guessing it would be still considered immunity from the vote but they should brush up on it.) ETA: Forgot to thank you for typing all this up for the curious. You rock. <3

I just can't believe you took the time to type that all in.
And with only nine fingers...wow! |

Wow, I cannot beleive the purple rock still exists.
And I was yelling at the TV, "They won't bring back the rock!" |

The purple rock never went away. It's just that everyone is aware of it, thus don't want to force ties anymore.

Too bad, I was kinda hoping they had changed the rules so ties would lead to actual violence and carnage.
Oh well, there's always next season. |

Re: Purple Rock problems
1. As pbc notes, the hidden idol isn't covered. To me, therefore, by the letter of the rules, once you are in the group of people picking rocks, your hidden idol does you no good. I mean, from what we know, the only time you can play it is before the votes are read. 1a. Also not covered with regard to the hidden idol is what happens if there is a tie *after* the hidden idol is played (and possible re-vote(s) and deadlock and 2-minute discussion(s)). Does the hidden idol player continue to be immune from the rock-picking? The rules certainly don't say, so I would say the hidden idol person is subject to the rock, by the letter of the rules. 2. The language for the person with Immunity is sloppy. "with the sole exclusion of any remaining, non-tied, Contestant who has previously been granted immunity for this Tribal Council as a result of winning a Challenge". This is too specific. It doesn't cover Immunity being given away. BY THE LETTER OF THE RULES, Erik (for example) would have been immune for the rock-picking, even though he had given away his Immunity. There's no reason this should have the language regarding "as a result of winning a Challenge". 3. Note that a re-vote *may* be conducted. Re-votes are apparently always at the sole discretion of the Producer. Not that big a deal, but you know. 4. Note that the wording at the end refers to "final four Contestants". That is, final four Contestants in the Series. What if there is a tie among the final four of a *tribe* (pre-merger)? The language clearly says "final four Contestants". Unless I'm totally missing something, BY THE LETTER OF THE RULES, the final four of a tribe (pre-merger) is not specifically covered, and therefore the purple rock applies. |

Well the final four contestants in the premerge situation would have no one immune (most likely), therefore two people would draw rocks instead of just one.
But damn, I can see why there's confusion as to the rule, and I'm seriously doubting if I wanna be a contestant if it means reading 150 pages like that. I wonder how many people just quit right there. |
