China, imo, had the best system - Jury of 7, Final 3. If there's a tie, the person NOT involved in the tie (since a three way is impossible) casts the final vote.

We could've had a 3-3-3 tie in Fiji and Cook Islands, too. That would've been messed up.

I don't think they would have resolved it in Micronesia.
Imagine: Jeff walks off the set, the cameras go off, everybody's hugging each other getting ready to leave. He and Burnett count the votes. Oops, there's a tie. "Hold on everybody, there's a tie, we have to announce the results now so we can have a re-vote. Everybody sit back down." How on earth would they edit that? Then everybody on the jury would know there had been a tie when it comes to the finale, so no dramatic vote count. No, that would never happen. I think they'd go to a re-vote based on the fact that now everybody had SEEN what really went on and could make an informed decision. If there was still a tie, they could do firemaking or the rock or a trivia quiz--something like that. Or even go back to "past jury votes." |

Well, in Survivor France...when they have a split vote for the final 2, both of them won. Season 7 had "co-winners"
I really hope that was not the case for Micronesia. To see both Parvati/Amanda winning, *shudders* |

Disturbingly enough, I think they would have had "America" decide the winner.

Thank God it didn't come to that. Amanda winning = shudder. How the fuck did Amanda and OZZY get the most fan votes (after James) for the $100,000? Did we
get some different edit up here where Ozzy was a douche but the US broadcast showed him giving money to sick orphans and stopping a giant meteor from
destroying the planet? Cirie deserved that prize. I'm stunned she wasn't in the Top 3.

James and Amanda got a lot of fan votes because they were on the most recent seasons back-to-back and are fresh in the minds of viewers, most of whom have
extremely short attention spans. Ozzy got votes just because he's Ozzy. Average viewers seem to like the guy.

This is definitely a question we need Probst to clarify. Didn't I see in another thread that he has a MySpace page?

I think they'd go to a re-vote based on the fact that now everybody had SEEN what really went on and could make an informed decision. But it would be "informed" based on very subjective editing! You cannot cannot cannot make the outcome of the game come down to what the editors chose to show of the finalists, because they can stack "good game" moments for one of the other and conceal others. It's bad enough that the "America votes for $100K" is based on the editing, because people like James get all of their "snappy one=liners" shown and their annoying moments downplayed. If there was still a tie, they could do firemaking or the rock or a trivia quiz--something like that. Or even go back to "past jury votes." "Past votes" would be unfair, because they wouldn't have known all along that that would come into play. In seasons where that rule was in effect, people could (and sometimes did) vote specifically to stack someone's "past votes" total for a potential tie later. If this were going to be the rule, then it would had to have been known all along. I would have to think that, as in Survivor France, they would simply give both of them the prize...so much for "Sole Survivor". To many, they were
interchangeable anyway--two rather |
