Not a shotgun. It wouldn't light up the sky like that. Most likely big close-to-ground fireworks. That would be my guess.

Yeah, one of my friends is way into fireworks and he gave me a couple that have 10 "shots" or "balls" in them, pretty evenly spaced. I've never set them off, so I can't tell you if they light up the sky, but...sounds like it.

Wow, stark, that is weird - it's like an exact description! Except I'm in California. Most times it's one or two booms -- last night was the first time I heard several in a row.

I'm sure it probably is fireworks or something, but still...cweepy.

ETA -- Ok I just watched the video that went with it -- that is EXACTLY what it's like. WOWWOWOWOW damn! \
Btw, would an M80 even light up the sky like that? It's like a split second of total daylight --- not a bright light coming from a particular area.

Bright Light and Explosion Sound Annoyed Neighbors for Years

Baltimore County, Md. (April 29, 2008) - Baltimore County Police have arrested Frederick Lee Mackler, 59, of the 8000-block of Brynmor Court, 21208. He was identified by police last night for being responsible for a multitude of complaints that the community made concerning loud explosion sounds in the area, for over two years.

Police began an investigation in September of 2007 concerning numerous complaints from residents in the Pikesville area about loud noises that sounded like gunshots or explosions. These residents also reported seeing bright flashes at the time of the noises.

The Pikesville Precinct Community Outreach Unit used several resources to identify the source of the noises and flashes of light. Detectives, using video and other investigative resources were able to conclude that it was coming from the fourth floor of a condominium, and specifically, from Frederick Mackler's residence.

Based on evidence they collected, detectives believed that the explosion sound and light were made from someone discharging some type of firework or pyrotechnic device. Investigators received and executed a search and seizure warrant on Mackler's residence. Inside they found and seized pyrotechnics, illegal narcotics, and firearms.

Frederick Mackler has been charged with several CDS violations, possession of a concealed deadly weapon, possession of fireworks without a permit, and reckless endangerment. He has been taken before a court commissioner today where he has been remanded to the Baltimore County Detention Center on $1,000,000 bail. A bail review has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 30.

After she realized she hadn't been shot, she started emailing other homeowners to see if they heard it too.

This actually makes me sad.

1. That she e-mails them instead of using the phone to CALL them, and MAKE SURE they get the message.

2. Um, if you think you've been shot and/or think someone is shooting a gun, wouldn't the first thing you do is call 911?

Seems fishy to me. Mabbers this bitch is in on the conspiricy.

So the police are saying that Mackler set off fireworks IN his condo? If he had set them off on his balcony, surely adjacent neighbors would've smelled the sulfur.
