Cassette to MP3 converter |
Lead | |
|
While moving recently, I came across a stash of about 1000 cassettes from the 80's and 90's, all in good shape, with some great music on them. I was
going to trash them, but it would cost so much to replace them with CD's or download to the Ipod. They are selling Cassette to MP3 converters for about
150 bucks these days...is anyone familiar with them? How's the sound quality? I don't want to waste the money if I'm going to end up with an Ipod
full of hissing music.

The cassette to fuckoff converters are half the price and really do a remarkable job.

Conversion? It'll never work. Just accept those cassettes for what they are.

Unless you've got rare material in there, this is a colossal waste of time. Spend 10 bucks on a decent Newsgroup reader for a month and you can probably
find virtually anything you want in MP3 format, or make a couple requests on the lossless groups. Converting standard cassettes is just plain dumb. The reason
the converters exist is for bootleggers who have shows they've taped or rare studio material obtained via trading that's from an earlier generation
than a subsequent CD boot.

I have a cassette tape of CDs list of tracks from different artists that may convert to mp3. It is simple to use them and copy to the computer?

I actually use to use a sharware prgram called "singulator" back when I transferred my bands music on tape to the computer.
I ran a line out from the stereo into the sound card....the singulator makes a seperate file every time it comes to break in the music. It rocked. Go find it yourself....I haven't used it in many years. |

but it would cost so much to replace them with CD's or download to the Ipod. Does not compute. |

we have a CD recorder that's part of our stereo system - we can record any media (vinyl, cassette, 8-track and r2r) onto CD and then stick the CD in the
computer and convert to mp3.
