He wasnt good at all ahaha. My favourite (vocal wise): VIETNAMESE GUY OWNAGE!!! (Thanh Bui) sorry to say he outsang Kate Dearaugo's version of Please dont ask me. Of course there's a possibility he'll crumble at the actual show. My only problem with him is he's very boybandish, considering he was in a boyband. I know lots of you here hate Kyle so much, but I'm actually okay with him. I thought at the end of the day he's pretty professional (like when he clapped for Kate, while Marcia and Mark blatantly showed dissapointment) and politically incorrect. They definitely realise last year (season 5) was a mistake to strictly just have musicians in the top 24, except Tarisai.

It got a little boring last year without the balance, even more so as it became a sausagefest. I still wish that Sarah Lloyde blonde got in to the Top 12. Is Thanh the same Asian guy wearing the brown jacket from the Can You Feel It preview? He was my fave guy there. So yay if he's good.

Casey Freeman, who looks bizarely like Tracy from Big Brother UK and sounds like a female version of Mookie Morris. I doubt she will make it, but she's fun and I hope they give her a shot. Brooke Adamo was awesome too and that i'm glad about cause I was afraid i'd hate her. But she actually has a very pretty voice. Mark Spano was the only guy who caught my attention. The rasp in his voice was incredible...one of the betetr rockers I have seen in a long timeon a Idol show. Nicole Banks was probably my overall favorite so far. "My name is Nicole, I have red hair, it's a burden but somebody has to do it". So adorable Definitely a good start to the season.

I'm loving all the changes so far this year (except maybe for that one bit I read in wikipedia where they're adapting the American Top 24 set-up, I really hope that isn't true)

Nicole reminds me of Steffi D from CI. She could have great potential. Mark Spano was like another Oliver Pigott, minus the brother. But even better. They sure showed a lot of crap auditions. I couldn't stop laughing at that psycho bitch chick with the "how dare you " attitude.

A decade or so ago, Mark Spano's polyp would have kept him from spreading his voice of evil throughout the world. But now, I have to hear it until the Opera House. Dear god, deliver me away from that AWFUL sound. EHHHHH at the end of every single syllable. His raspiness was so frustrating and made me want to take a plaque scrapper and go for his voice box. Anyway, some other really great people. The Brianna Carpenter flop on your face when forced to do something different slot will have mucho competition this year. Of the singer/songwriter girls this episode, I prefer the girl who got on her knees to do the guitar to the other one who was probably a bit more profession if for no other reason that the knee girl had more personality. But you have to be able to really do a power note to win this show. Natalie was a singer/songwriter who could still really sang. And as a result, was able to get the support. But those mousy girls who I do love to hear...the Ingrid, Missy, Lisa Mitchell's of the world, aren't gonna be able to win these shows, I don't think. Maybe in another country with a lower vote number, but not here.

Agreeance on Lisa though, she definitely couldn't really belt it out. Loved her voice but not high on technical skill. You do have to be able to really sing to win the show, and if you're a singer/songwriter who can really sing, extra bonus. Natalie and Damien can sing their asses off and write music and play instruments, triple threats. I don't know if Guy writes his own music, I'm guessing yes but he can also sing like mad. No comment on Casey. Kate can sing. OzI combines the best of both worlds as opposed to leaning more toward singing like AI where they want their Archuleta's and Syesha's or more towards just artistry where they want their Mitch's and Sebastian's. You need a good balance and I think that's what makes Aussie Idol great.
