Sad, lonely people with no self esteem or self worth, would be my guess.
They are ripe for the pickins to be taken advantage of and brainwashed. |

Trho starting a cult is easy and does not necessarily require idiots. All it takes is someone who is a natural leader and is smart enough to know how far
to push and in what intervals. You start with something they already believe with a small but plausible twist and then you keep twisting until you get the
husbands to willingly offer their wives to you. Once you get enough members the mob mentality kicks in and you can move faster and faster. You get to a point
where even the stupidly radical things like declaring yourself the Son of God gets accepted because either they are caught up in the mob, they feel the
pressure of the group, or they don't want to think themselves stupid for having believed in you in the first place.

I don't know about a lot of these morons, but I did see a documentary on Jim Jones recently. He started out as one of those pastors that's strongly
into "right and wrong" that appeals to people's sense of justice and they got sucked in cause he was persuasive and charismatic. People that
don't have a strong sense of their own conscience and values often get brainwashed by someone that seems so "sure" about everything. They see
that and want that kind of confidence and power. They think if they follow suit, some of it will rub off on them. The thing with Jim Jones is that once he got
everyone to Guyana, that's when they all figured out what a wackjob he was. It wasn't so happy happy then. He wouldn't let anyone leave and ruled
with a lot of cruelty. Even his own wife tried to help their son escape. She and the son came to realize he was nuts x 10, as well as most, if not all, of the
main people that started out with him. Jones was really hopped up on heavy duty drugs by then.
As far as people that believe someone today is God in the flesh, I dunno, I think it must be people who aren't familiar with any religious writings, cause I think most of them are pretty clear that all the deities that came here have done come and gone, aren't they, except for maybe the people that follow the Dalai Lama? I think a lot of people today have a problem discerning what someone says versus what they do. I don't get how some of these people believe another person is God when they aren't demonstrating squat to back that up. The leaders just specialize in manipulation and intimidation. They must have a warped view of God to think He'd be like that. But enough of all that, what will the commune look like? This is critical to recruitment. |

Mostly broken people who need something to make them whole. Some liken it to a belief in god but the belief in socialistic communities and global warming are drawn from the same cloth.
Take the religious nut who manipulates people with the promise of eternal life, the ex Vice president who lay's out a theory of climate change danger, and the world leader than speaks of the government satisfying all the peoples needs. All promise a better life through sacrifice and obedience yet all those leaders are telling the same lie. Only one of them speaks the truth. Your job is to decide what cult you follow based on how narrow your mind is. |
