okay, my bad. What I should have said is 'finally a mentor that sings and doesn't suck at it'.

Neil Diamond is EXACTLY what Ron Livingston (Office Space, SATC) is going to look like at age 67. Mark my words.

Neil's ears are as big as Mr. Spock's now so I guess that's why so many think he really imparted intelligent advice, but he didn't ... yeah he was classy, but you expect that from Neil Diamond however he didn't say anything particular insightful or helpful. ALW may have been the creepiest, but he was the helpful. |

I pretty much hated the song, but he was in good voice, especially compared to the rest of the Golden Moldies Review Extravaganza.

The last 2 shows (Neil Diamond and A.L. Weber) have shown me that some people have more vocal range than I previously thought (Cook) and others (Castro,
Brooke) can't get out of the box they are pigeonholed in. It doesn't matter what Castro and Brooke sing to me...it all sounds the same.

As a MENTOR, Diamond was above average without being great. He didn't say anything stupid, ignorant, or condescending, which already puts him ahead of the
majority of them. And he didn't overly praise any contestants, sucky or otherwise. On the other hand, he didn't give any noteworthy advice, either. As
a SINGER, however, I was very impressed. He's still got most of his range and it was a very good song. I'm also mighty impressed with any 67 year old
whose mother is still alive (mine died last year).
