Hopefully, Jason won't be around, so his choices won't be an issue...

No way in Hell is Zeppelin going to clear any of their catalog. Of any band in history, they are probably the MOST careful with how their music is used in film and television...I dunno, Drew. They used one of their songs in a car commercial, so why not AI at this point? Why is Duran Duran on the song list? They didn't shape rock and roll. Their music was New Wave and Pop. I dunno, Drew. They used one of their songs in a car commercial, so why not AI at this point? They did? I must have missed that. I just have heard stories about film directors having to woo them for months and fly to England and show footage, etc. to get them to even CONSIDER licensing a song for a movie (and I'm talking good, prestigious movies, here). If they're that protective of their OWN versions of the song, I'd be shocked if they took the chance of letting shitty karaoke singers butcher their songs... Maybe I'm mistaken, though. Maybe they are only that protective of one or two of their songs (I KNOW it is next to impossible to license "Stairway to Heaven" for anything), but they'll release other ones.... |

Drew, I remember this commercial. The song used was "Rock and Roll"....... this is a quote from a facts website:
This was the first Led Zeppelin song used in a commercial. Cadillac used it to kick off a new advertising campaign in 2002 with the tagline "Breakthrough." The company was going for a hip, new image, since their audience was slowly dying off. The spots aired for the first time on the Super Bowl, and sales rose 16% the next year. http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=330 |

Thanks. Like I said, maybe it's just "Stairway"...
Still, if they saw what happened to the Beatles, they'd run SCREAMING! |

Still, if they saw what happened to the Beatles, they'd run SCREAMING!So true! I would only place a Zep song in Cook's capable hands. The rest of them? Um, noe way in hell! |

I may not mind hearing Cook do "Thank You" or "Rock N Roll"
Ok I also want to hear Jason do Jethro Tull. I probably need help for this I know. |

Could we have Archtard do "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath? That would be comedy gold!

There's a few choices I like for Cookie:Ooh. Have a few bootlegs...ah, alternate concert recordings, I mean, of the Springsteen Tunnel Of Love Express tour with a fantastic rocking version of Boom Boom that would electrify the house. But I love Cook for taking a song that has me scratching my head at the choice, then blowing me away. So with that in mind My Girl - Temptations How Do You Do It? - Gerry & The Pacemakers Rick James - Superfreak Elton John - Your Song Just because I have trouble hearing them substansially different without being hard to listen to. If that list is accurate, maybe Castro could do Legalize It! :-) Michael edited to add TJ's question Why is Duran Duran on the song list? They didn't shape rock and roll. Their music was New Wave and Pop. Videos - their expensive videos helped make music way more visual than it had needed to be before. (Needed, in my opinion, is the wrong point of view, but hey, I love my radio.)

Oh god, NONE of them should sing Led Zepplin. NONE. Ugh. The thought of that makes me ill.... Here's my thoughts on song choices based on that 500
list...
Will sing:

If Castro does "God Only Knows" my head will explode. That's the only Beach Boys song I like.

I seriously doubt Paul Westerberg would clear it, but from that list I would love to hear Cook sing "I Will Dare" by The Replacements.

The thing about Cook is, the one night I'd thought he'd nail it was inspiration night--with Our Lady Peace being his favorite group. But it's his
only song I haven't bought off itunes. Whenever I think "oh no" after finding out his song selection, he has killed it for me. So I won't even speculate on his song choice. He seems to know what is going to work best for him.
It's weird--even last night I thought his second song was awesome, but his first didn't blow me away. After watching hiss performances again I really
loved "I'm Alive." Looking forward to the studio version. I hope he picks something completely unexpected next week.
