If my post was purely about her, I would have used her name.
As Ashley Simpson and a ton of other "singers" have proved, you do not need to be talented to sell cds just good spin. And there are plenty of
amazing singers who simply don't have the promotion to sell well. Therefore, sales mean shit to me.

yes....let's bring up From Justin to Kelly.... it wasn't at the height of her popularity. (which was during the Breakaway era)..in fact it was at
the very beginning of her career and could've very well ruined her chances at a legitimate shot at becoming successful outside the AI bubble. That movie
basically ruined Justin's career... but Kelly proved herself to be an artist in her own right...She had much more to prove than ANY other Idol who has ever
won so IMO it's much more impressive that Kelly shook off the stigma of AI and managed to find success in a genre that is very harsh and unforgiving.
Kelly gained legitimacy for all the other idols upon the release of Breakaway, which BTW, was right at the beginning of Carrie's season.... before that it
was unknow if any of them could sustain a career outside the initial AI hype.
it might be more impressive to you that Carrie has sold so well in the country genre but let's be honest, the country genre is pretty much open to anyone...look at Bucky, Kellie P, Josh Gracin, Carmen, Phil Stacey, etc etc.... Country has their own chart, their own awards shows, their own lil world... they are an entity unto themselves and some of the biggest selling artists of ALL TIME come from country..Shania, Garth, Faith, Reba, etc. but you're kidding yourself if you believe that 6.3 million country fans bought Some Hearts...that CD has MASSIVE pop cross-over appeal so Carrie was selling to the same audience as Kelly has been.... I was referring to this board in particular regarding the waistline comment...Carrie was pretty much universally hated on Sucks during her season and now she's hailed as the savior of not only Idol but music in general.... it's pretty funny the amount of sheep this board attracts... The question was can Idol find someone as good as Carrie...and I answered that they already had.... it's pretty simple and nothing to get your knickers in a twist over really. |
