When Emerson turned out to be so popular I think they just merged his character with the "Ben" character. Just a theory Oh and did NO ONE think that Ben when confronting Charles was going to say "... dad."? or the reverse with Widmore calling him "son"? I sure did. My friend and I were joking about adding 'son' and 'dad' at the end of everyone of their sentences. We're hoping it's not the case but still. Seemed like something the show would do. Alex That shocked the hell out of me. But I still think Rousseau's alive.

Or so they've implied. Ecks. I think, much like we had no clue what was going to happen after the S3 finale, we will be expecting the scope of the series to radically change from S5 on. Obviously, the S4 finale revolves around the O6 getting rescued, and from there on, I think the overarching story shifts to the parallel themes of the O6 wanting/trying to get back to the Island, and the aftereffects of this attack on the island and the "game" between Ben and Widmore.

Whatever it is he must do also causes him to get his hands and shirt full of dirt. If I had to guess, I'd say this 'monster' is an original entity found on the island in connection with the stone foot, columns and other ancient artifacts on the island. Another thing to mention is the jacket Ben was wearing when he woke up in the desert. It had the name 'Halliwax' on it and a spanking brand new Dharma logo that (in my opinion) sort of resembles the time travel device used in an old 1960's TV show called The Time Tunnel. S.

I'm a little weirded out by this episode as well, but I did like it. I love Ben but for some reason I'm just not feeling this crap between Ben and Widmore. It's sooo far away from what drew us into Lost to begin with - the crash, the 815ers. I didn't plan on posting at all, but it just sucks when you can't give your opinion without other posters calling you an idiot or a moron. Sorry dude! :) I think Danielle is alive. We still need her history. Well some of us would like to see it. On the other hand, does she really have a purpose with her daughter gone...? sniff

Maybe Ben's arm is hurt in transport in the same way that M. Candle lost his arm completely in an "incident". I noticed the painting of what could be the Black Rock on the wall next to Widmore's bed. I could easily believe that he really is Magnus Hanso and lived on the island, was forced off the island, and then began to age and assumed the Widmore identity.

I feel like we're on a roller coaster and we've spent all this time going up the hill and we just went over the hump. Full steam ahead now. I loved the hieroglyphics on Ben's secret chamber door. I think season 5 is going to have a lot to do with the ye olde island mythology pre-dharma. If Michael Emerson doesn't get an Emmy, heads must roll. Whoever asked about the doctor, and his not being dead - I'm sure he wasn't yet boat-time. He's probably killed shortly thereafter and dumped overboard. I'm too overwhelmed to comment much more right now.

Other sites have noticed that the portrait of Ben's mother "changed" again...for the 3rd time...in this episode. And also that the "dead" doc's face had a fresh scar with stiches still in place...but when we met him earlier on the freightor, the scar was healed. I would love it if the Losties encounter the real live doc on the freightor....and maybe even witness his death.

So much to take in that I think I best watch it again right now. What the hell is up with Jack and his gut aching? Loved Bernard and am glad they are keeping him around and vital to certain scenes. I knew the minute Ben tried the old "she doesn't mean anything to me" shtick she was a goner. Oh and more Sawyer kicking ass and taking names please. Ben rules for calling up Smokey to dispatch the enemy, but I would have loved it if he had turned around, Smokey was there and acted like Ben's pet. Licking his face or something like a dog would it's owner.
