I cannot lie - I fucking love Neil Diamond. And I'm not quite old enough for it to be a given.
I'd go see his old, yelly ass in a heartbeat. |

Just as long as no one does "Song Sung Blue", I will be happy. That song bites!!!
I agree that David C. singing "Love on the Rocks" would be fabu!! |

What a terrible theme. What, they couldn't get Neil Sedaka?

Will Ferrell: Niel Diamond VH1 Legends What, they couldn't get Neil Sedaka? He's off having ear sex with Clay Aiken. I don't personally own any Neil Diamond records, but he has some great songs that I'd like to hear them sung by someone other than Neil. |

Why do I think Brooke is going to do 'Heartlight'.
LET IT SHINE WHEREEVER YOU GO! LET IT MAKE A HAPPY GLOW FOR EVERYONE TO SEE! Fucking worst song ever recorded by human vocal chords. |

Why does everyone want Brooke to sing Bubbly? Her voice just isn't suited to that song. It's a song Jason might do if he was female.
Personally, I think Love Song would be more her speed. (The Sarah Barielles one, not the one Blake did by The Cure.) |

You know what would be a great theme week........?????
Pick the damn song that best fits your voice, regardless of era, regardless of genre, regardless of whether it is a cover of an original or your own version, regardless of whether or not TPTB have the "rights" to use the song! Now THAT would be a great theme week!!!! We could call it "Let's see how smart you are" week!! |

Well, wasn't it written for the movie E.T.? Sappy song for a sappy kid movie?Actually, it's even worse than that. It was written after ET came out, because Neil was inspired by the movie. |

He was the hottest thing in the world around 1970. He has an awesome catalogue that will make this night fun for the contestants.
Red Red Wine (Jason can do the UB40 reggae cover version) Cherry Cherry Solitary Man Brooklyn Roads Sweet Caroline Thank the Lord for the Nighttime Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show Stones etc. |

My predics:
Jason Castro - "Red, Red Wine" - UB40-ish version David Archuleta - "Hello Again" - though "Song Sung Blue" would fit his depressing tone... Syesha Mercado - "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" - closest to a diva song thanks to Babs Carly Smithson - "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" or "I Dreamed A Dream" - because Diamond didn't write them David Cook - "Forever in Blue Jeans" - because "America" and "I'm a Believer" are too obvious, and FIBJ can easily be made to sound like everything else he does Brooke White - "Yesterday's Songs" |
