Its pretty damn stupid, regardless.

I think David is very smart. I just think the show is setting him up in the same negative way they have set up many others because his first album is probably going to bear little resemblance to what the judges say he's best at. None of my complaints about this season are about David Cook himself. I hope his fans realize that. I'm just so tired of seeing so many other people in a season being torn down for the favored contestant.

Basically, other than Kady Malloy in week one of the semis, I think that the critique of EVERY SINGLE PERFORMER has been either at an appropriate level or too light. I don't believe any of them have been told that they suck worse than they actually do...

I mean, they're trying to avoid another Taylor! (Someone popular, but unsellable.) That's a good thing, right? Yet, we must complain about the pimping!!! We must!!! You gotta give props to the producers for coming up with their scheme to get Cookie the win. Pimp Archie overtly, and Pimp Cookie subtly. Pimping make stupid people vote, so both get more votes. So both might win. Much better idea than just pimping Cookie, and only getting him those extra votes. And, yes, occasionally, they bash those they're pimping, and pimp others instead, coincidentally when their Chosens Ones sucked, and the others shined. By spreading around the pimping, they make sure everyone gets more votes, not just the Chosen Ones. Why make it easy to get what they want? I think the pimp conspiracists have spun themselves into a contradiction.

They're just being smarter about it this season. Archuleta is the decoy Chosen One. I don't. They acted like he was just another one of the throwaways to begin with. Now Clive has probably put in the order to Nigel for him to be pimped the most because they realized his cd would be another Daughtry platinum since he appeals to everybody and not just a narrow tard demographic. That doesn't mean the script calls for Cook to win it, because Porky needs more pimping to even sell moderately well, but obviously Nigel's pimping scripts are now to make sure Cook is in the final with Porky. I mean for more weeks than not this show has been artist specific...two beatles weeks, Dolly parton week, Mariah week...songs of inspiration, et al. It kind of limits what he can do with the material provided doesn't it? I liked season 1 because they had decades to choose from... 60s, 70s, 80s 90s, motown, big band, etc. Those genres open up the possibilities but when the producers make the options so narrow I guess I'm just at a loss as to what you think Cookie should do instead? Should he sing it straight like the original like all the other boring ass contestants?
