Cook and Castro are the only reasons I watch the show.
Carly should be out this week. |

Meh week. Performance order is not worth ranking. Brooke was awful. Carly was best, I'm busy voting for her as I type. I've gotten some busy signals
(unlike last week), so I'm hopeful she'll be safe. The utterly undeserved ass licking the two Davids are getting from the judges is rather gruesome to
witness. BOOT: Brooke. And she knows it. BOTTOM TWO: Syesha. BOTTOM 3: Kristti McKibbon (ties the all time record!!)

1. Cookie. Not his best by a long shot, but he gets points for degree of difficulty (i.e., being forced to cover Mariah fucking Carey).
2. Archie. Nice vocal, far from perfect. More theme park shit from the Archtard. 3. Jason. At least the guy has his own style and works well within his obvious limitations. 4. Kristy. Probably her best vocal technically. That's not saying much. Not really better than Syesha, but she entertained me more just by virtue of the surprise of her not totally sucking. 5. Syesha. I still think the judges should cut her some slack, though she was even shriller than usual tonight. And I have to admit I didn't find her performance all that entertaining. 6. Carly. She basically rewrote the verses because she was chicken shit about her lower register. She just seems to be getting worse and worse. 7. Brooke. This was the first time she's been just a total mess. B: Syesha. H: Carly. G: Carly. |

David C. - Is it original and taking a risk if he does the same basic thing every week? Not really, but he does it well so whatev.
David A. Carly - What can they invent to slam her about next week? Rough elbow skin? Split ends? Brooke Kristy Jason Castro - ummmmm, what they hell was that? A recognizable song rendered unidentifiable amid bongos and whisperings. Syesha - Terrible when she isn't belting. B: Syesha H: Syesha G: Carly |

1. David Cook - The only exciting, original song of the night.
2. Archie. Sorry. The boy has a very pretty voice he uses well. It's a shame he's got a demon for a dad. 3. Jason - The vocals were OK, but he's all heart. I love this kid. He needs voice lessons to go with his honest artistry. 4. Kristy - OK. Getting better. 5. Syesha - The vocals were quite good, but she's heartless. 6. Carly - Her confidence is going by the day and it's getting obvious. She wimped out on a lot of glory notes. I was almost sorry for her. 7. Brooke. Face. Palm. Honey! Do you have look QUITE that terrified? At this rate she's going to end the season by fainting. Brain: Brooke Heart: Syesha (I don't like her.) Gut: Carly |

Well, my favourites don't rank that high. Mariah is responsible for getting them to sing as well as they did (for the ones who paid attention to her)
1. David C. = didn't want to like him, but he was the most passionate 2. David A. = normally don't like him, finally his voice moved me 3. Syesha = no appeal at all but I can't fault her vocals 4. Jason = the sweetest one but off key and too much the same 5. Kristy = very nice but a bit pageanty 6. Carly = no connection with the song; see Kelly's version for one with emotion 7. Brooke= absolutely out of her league; belongs on a cable access tv show |

1 - David C. - 9/10 - Another brilliant song choice and performance. He should be the clear frontrunner to win by a mile now; I say should but we all know
that's not the case. Not quite as good as Billie Jean, but equally as good as Hello and better than all his other performances. He is the only one in this
competition who week after week performs as if he's already a famous artist performing at his own concert. Choosing ABMB was trainwreck potential for a
rocker, yet again he re-arranged it to perfection. I particularly loved the staccato feel with the strings when the chorus came in. I felt transported watching
his performance. And his hair looked great tonight.
2 - Jason - 8/10 - Loved it; loved the arrangement and the three musicians sitting on stage with him. Randy was correct - I could imagine hearing that on a beach - but that only makes it all the better. It was low-key, mellow, romantic and beautiful. 3 - Syesha - 8/10 - Probably the best song choice of the night, and again she sings it almost perfectly. Her problem is with charisma but tonight I thought her personality worked perfectly on the song she sang. Easily in her top two or three performances to date. And I liked her dress and especially the big teardrop earrings. 4 - Kristy - 8/10 - Last week everyone else thought she did great and I thought it was only mediocre. I haven't read around to see what everyone thought of her this week yet, but I think it was her best performance so far. Great song choice for her and she sung it very well, especially the last part. It fit her well. And she looked prettier than ever tonight, so much so that she almost looked like a Stepford wife. 5 - Brooke - 6/10 - Interesting song choice and take on it, but I thought she was only halfway successful. The song and arrangement just seemed too big for her voice, and it did seem as if she lost confidence as the song went on. 6 - David A. - 6/10 - Yet ANOTHER boring inspirational song sung excellently. Actually, hearing the title I thought it would be a god-awful song but surprisingly turned out to be a halfway decent song. And for that he made it up to 6/10 but I cannot give him a score higher than that as long as these saccharine song selections continue. David A. and his song choices and fans all remind me of Clay, and Clay Aiken has never been my cup of tea. 7 - Carly - 6/10 - Carly is one of my favorites but I try to be impartial in these rankings from week to week. I thought she sang it better than the judges made out, but still I thought it sounded more forced than needed. If there had been any bad performances she wouldn't be last on my list but there really weren't any bad ones tonight in my opinion. She looked great though; whoever's doing her wardrobe seems to slowly be getting better. Overall - I don't like most of Mariah Carey's songs, but despite that a lot of the performances tonight were quite good. Edited because I must've spent the last couple days thinking violins were wind instruments. :p
