Tearing my "crappy crappy crappy crappy crappy" song apart. But I am hoping you can honestly answer this question -- if the first post in this thread rated my song a "0" and no other song a zero, considering the past seasons' songs, what you're telling me is that I have a chance, right? I mean if you guys generally hate the songs that get picked -- I am in the running to win this thing, right? I am totally cool with your opinions and appreciate your candor. Perry Sorry dude but your song was just really, really, really bad. If it makes you feel better you can't actually rank the songs 0 so I actually gave you a 1 out of 10. Nice to see you didn't come in here and rip us all for being so mean about your song. It sounds like you just wrote it for the heck of it and did the lyrics just so they'd be a winner's single type cheese fest.

My favorites are Align, In This Moment, Overcome, Only Love, No Turning Back and Something Like Heaven. I rated all the ones that sounded like DC or JC a 10 and the rest 1's.

Every one of them. I thought it was especially cruel (but fair) that we had to wait all those seconds to rate the song when you know it's going to be a 1. At the most a 2. There were a few ones that were a bit more interesting, like the beginning part of "In This Moment" .... but then the chorus got too sugary. I rated that the highest because I could bear listening to it for 20 seconds. "No Turning Back" wasn't awful, but the chorus was. One of the only ones I can see Cock singing (that's Dave, not KKK). Songwriters really need to try not to make the chorus so artificial and disjointed. Most of Pink's songs (the one's I've heard on the radio, I haven't bought a CD) have that problem. It's sloppy. Very sloppy. Last year's song was embarrassingly bad. I felt terrible for Blake for having to sing it. This year looks like it will be no better.

They're probably better off with the schmaltzy power ballads. Power ballads work on AI, as much as the song itself sucks. I can't picture Randy or Simon praising a performance like "Alive" (best.winner's single.ever.), it's great for radio, but unfortunately radio-friendly songs usually don't fit the criteria that 90% of the audience feels makes a great singer -- glory notes. Plus, crying at the end of a performance like "Alive" would just seem awkward. It's basic AI formula for the women to cry at the end of their final performance.

Which, of course, make them perfect for AI coronation songs! I mean, jeez...how many rainbows and gold and faith and heaven and believing do we really need? The #1 problem with all of them is that there doesn't seem to be a single one that would work for more than a couple of people. The contestants are very different kinds of singers. A country song that works for Kristy isn't really going to work for Carly or David C.(Though at least David is an actual musician who might be able to salvage something with his own arrangement). A rockish song that David C and Carly could do well with would be horrible to here Archuleta attempt. (which is why I'm hoping a rockish one is picked). Chances are, we'll get the David's in the finals and making them sing the same song is as awful as making Carrie and Bo and Jordin and Blake sing the same schlock. Of course the cutesy girls did better than a rocker and a beatboxer with that crap. Is season 2 still the only one that had different songs? They should honestly do that again. I know then they picked 2 final songs when there were 4 left. They knew that whoever was in the F2, Ruben and Kim would get Flying Without Wings and Josh and Clay would get This is the Night. I think I remember reading they did that with season 1 too, but they had assigned the same song to Justin and Kelly. They should pick the top rockish song and the top ballady song so anyone would have a chance of singing something close to their genre.

Um... middle of the song, anybody? Rex turned the part of the song that went "I'm finally ready to be somebody / With a story to tell" into a total screamfest glory note. And Randy and Simon regularly praise uptempo songs. In fact, Simon's been a vocal critic of the shitty singles for years.

We could do better. Score: 5 In This Moment- a little cheesy in the verses, but I enjoy the chorus and think David C. could make it better. Very catchy. Score: 9 Believe- none of the remaining singers could sing this... it's R&B. It would be funny to watch the Davids try it, though. Not horrible, but not this year. Score: 5 Overcome- meh. Okay song, but boring. Score: 6 You Believed In Me- a rock song that no fan of rock music would ever listen to. Score: 3 Only Love- thank God there's a song that's not about winning. Not my favorite, but a step above the others. Score: 8 Faith- love songs will not fly here. Score: 3 You Believe in Me- reminds me of an 80s song. No thanks. Score: 4 Thank You Whatever Comes- no. Just no. TPTB would at least get to use a large chorus, though. They love that stuff. Score: 2 When You Come From Nothing- it's ok (bad lyrics at times), but I can't imagine anyone who might win this thing actually singing it. Score: 6 You Can Do Anything- no. Score: 2 Stronger- this could be the thirteenth song on a Carrie Underwood album... the one nobody likes and just skips over. Score: 3 Dream Big- I agree with the Disney Channel comment. Good, but not for these people or this competition. Score: 6 No Turning Back- the guitar in the background of the chorus, but not as catchy as "In this Moment." Could work for Jason or David C. Score: 7 The Time of My Life- let's break away from the norm, huh? Score: 3 We're Going To Make It- love the music, HATE the lyrics. Could be ironic if the winner of this season falls into obscurity... Score: 4 Align- different sound, but kinda boring and bad lyrics. Score: 3 Something Like Heaven- versatile, lyrics not the best, but the music is great. Loved the start and the intro into the chorus. Score: 8 Fly Me Away- if David A.'s fans really want him to succeed, they should never allow him to sing this song. It would never sell.
