In seriousness, I agree. I hate Prince-speak sort of texting shorthand. I won't do it in email, or IMs or Texting. It's just horribly unpleasing to my eye. I never even get tempted to do it, and on my phone it fills in 'you' when I type a y in text anyway, so it's not like it would save timeMARRY ME.

I send my husband a text message just about every day. He thinks I send them too often. Usually, it's just a quick note like today's "U R
picking up son" It was important that he know the program, but didn't need to waste his time with a phone call (which he actually didn't have
time for today). Sometimes, when I just want to annoy him, I'll text him "BOO".

If I really want to be a nuisance, I can text something...anything to my teenage son. According to the latest cell phone statement, he received 624 messages
and sent 679 messages within the last month. He tells me that my text messages are unimportant and are not informational. I wonder if he and his friends are
discussing Einstein to make these 1300 messages important and meaningful.
