I finally got to see the opening number and now I can't wait for SYTYCD! I'm glad they were able to get so many of them on the show. It's really hard to tell who they all are. Can anyone tell who the 3 spinners are? I believe Danny is in the front and Travis is one of the back ones, but who is the other back one? Could it be Ben from the 2nd season? |

I think the spinners were Travis, Danny and Nick, the winner from season one.
Oh, and awesome pics, lemonhead, BTW. |

Is that Anya or is it Natalie? I think that's Danny behind her.
The man spinning with Travis and Danny was Nick. |

Benji is such an attention whore. He's Archtard-lite in the sense that his fanbase far outshadows his actual talent. Heidi, Travis and Alison would have
made far better winners.
Every season of SYTYCD has gotten better, hopefully it continues with this year. Last season was freakin' amazing, it's gonna be hard to top it. |

The first season was very unique, it still has some of my favorite dances (that was the only season with good disco). The second season was uneven but had a
great final set of episodes. The third season ran out of steam and had shitty choreography, but had some good moments.
Benji seemed alright at first and then he went into a very goofy place he's still in a few seasons later. I think Lacey was hurt more than helped by his presence last season. I still wish Travis had won. |

I actually liked Benji - a lot. And he's definitely NOT like Devil Child. Please do not even compare the two ever again. Benji you know, actually had
talent and deserved to win. Devil Child isn't up to the level of Benji talent-wise and he doesn't have Benji's goofy and fun personality either.
Devil Child is just a polished drone trying to live up to his father's expectations.

They played up Benji's father early on, him wanting to beat his father, then they phased this out after the audition rounds.
Benji and Archuleta have very different personalities but one similarity is I think they hide behind masks. |

Talented, yes, but so was every other dancer in the Top 4. I thought Travis was more talented than he was, but Benji (like Lacey) was a camera-whore and
showboated constantly. Love Nick and Sabra, though.
The third season ran out of steam and had shitty choreography, but had some good momentsI thought it stayed very consistant through-out. The early parts of the season were filled with great choreography, but mid-way to the end had very strong dances too. Most dances involving Lauren (bias aside |

I thought most of the Wade choreography was consistently flat, and when the judges didn't want to criticize his choreography, they would go after the
dancers. His big scream to end the war night was a pretentious mistake and along with Jesus boot I think the momentum was somewhat hampered. The best
choreographer that season was Mandy Moore.
They also overpraised Sabra, like that awful moment where they actually tried to say she was better at the quickstep than Pasha, a trained, award-winning ballroom dancer. I liked Sabra, she was probably even one of my favorites, but she seemed very tired by the end. I always thought it was odd they chose the finale to suddenly start criticizing her, because then when she won, people were more like, "She won?" They were so desperate to get Pasha out for Neil's sake, which is probably another reason I didn't enjoy the last half of the season. He was underpraised so many times. It was often like, "Oh, Sabra/Sara/Lauren/Lacey, you were so wonderful...and that random man next to you with the accent was okay too."

Drew, aside from Dom, Hok, and Melody, the others are memebrs of Qwest, the breaking group Dom and Hok formed.
Dom was one of my favorites last season, and they seemed pretty much done with him by the time he left. I'm glad they've brought him back for the Fox New Year's special and again for IGB, I always saw so much charisma and potential in him. |

Dom was my VERY favorite, and I continue to love him.
I assumed one of those guys was Ryan (S1) when I saw him on the show (as he and Hok have been the 2 Asian guys), but now that I see close-up faces, I see it's not him. Wasn't Ryan a member of the same group? |

Oh good, more Dom fans (I still think the rumba he had with Sabra is one of the best dances SYTYCD ever had).
I think Ryan was in Hok's old group, Sick Step Crew (?), or Six Step Crew, I don't remember. The new group is Hok, Dom, and other guys. |

Got it. Yep. Ryan was in Six Step Crew.
I thought Dominic in the week 2 contemporary was unbelievable. It was on the level of Ivan as far as being one of the best performances by a non-contemporary dancer in a lyrical piece. |

I loved that contemporary piece too. He really felt the emotions. At the time some people sneered because they said the choreography was too easy for him, but
I never understood what was so bad about tailoring a dance to someone's strengths and weaknesses. He still did a fantastic job in one of the few truly
moving contemporary dances that season. Even a lot of the contemporary dancers, like Neil and Lauren, didn't do anything for me in their contemporary
pieces.
