That means it went into oblivion during the ezboard regime, when we had only 20 pages -- it fell off page 20, thus it was page 21'd.
Dammit. I guess I need to do something about this sometime. Anyhow, kindly enter it into the sticky as though it were a new show. This is an example of what I'm talking about when I mention a resurrection thread. |

I could watch True Life all day. My fave ep was the breast augmentation one, but they're all good.
I like the blurb for each person at the end of the ep telling you about their progress. Almost always that they didn't learn a lesson, they didn't succeed at their goal, went back to old behaviors, etc etc... clearly the moral is you should abandon all hope of achieving your dreams. I love it. |

Just watched it this weekend actually cause some girls from my school were on...it was hilarious at how much it made fun of them and how awful they really
seemed. Oh Southern Belle's...give me a break.

This is one of my favorite shows. If you're not watching, don't be put off by the pointless topics. Most of the topics make me say "WTF who
cares" but the shows themselves almost always end up being entertaining.
One of my favorite moments was when the gay porn guy in the "I Work in the Sex Industry" episode told his dad what he did for a living. He made a big deal beforehand about how he was so nervous about telling his family, and then they're all just sitting around the breakfast table and he literally just says "I fuck guys for a living. Are you cool with that?" and takes another bite of his pancake. |

True Life is one of the shows I will never stop watching on MTV. They need to come up with better topics though, that are more controversial than "I'm
a Southern Belle." I hope they go back to documenting drug topics or talk about more controversial issues like immigration.
Oh, and as mentioned before, more "Where Are They Now?" episodes. |

There was one ep that totally broke my heart.. "I'm raising my brothers/sisters" or something like that. There was some poor girl who was 21
& had a 4 yr old, but she had gotten her crap together & was going to college. Then her mom died & she had to drop out & move home to keep her
3 siblings together (& the 17 yr old was pregnant). I was so PISSED when she told the food bank that her food stamps were cut off -- how the heck can we
not help someone like that???
I just wonder how she's doing & how the family is... that was way too much for someone her age to have to handle. |

Ugh, I saw that one. It was hella depressing, and all of the people seemed really trashy but I guess what can you do in that situation. I would also recommend
"I'm going to juvie" for an ep that will make you feel a whole lot better about yourself.

The same ep has another girl in it who was expected to care for her lazy non-English speaking parents while they just lied around the house b/c they were supposedly too sick to work. That poor girl. They did update that show just a few days ago. I was only half paying attention but the one whose mom died, said she is still dating the guy and she seemed happy. I think they have been getting donations and stuff. |

I like the gastric bypass one. I felt sorry for the woman. I saw the updates and both the guy and the woman looks really good.
I still get somewhat of a fruity vibe from the young black kid though. Even before he got the surgery, he had a somewhat feminine quality about him. |

One of the earliest episodes was "I'm a Porn Star" and it had this poor girl crying while talking about how she had contracted HIV doing a
gangbang scene and had to tell her family about it at Thanksgiving dinner. It was pretty heartbreaking. This
show's had some pretty incredible episodes, but has gotten continually meh over its course. Its Jump the Shark moment had to be "I Have Embarrassing
Parents." Now this "I'm a Southern Belle" crap. And I'm a Northern Prick. Who gives a shit?

^Wow. I've only seen the newer episodes, but they should re-run some of the older ones once in a while. They find time to re-run the pointless ones
constantly.
Some of the newer ones have addressed significant issues (I think the "I'm An Alcoholic" one was a recent episode, and the one about fat people who refused to lose weight was too), but they're mixed in with stupid stuff that I guess MTV execs think will appeal more to dumb teenagers or something. I saw a list of possible upcoming episodes at TWoP, and one of them was "I Have Acne." Seriously. Of course, I'll probably watch it anyway. The same ep has another girl in it who was expected to care for her lazy non-English speaking parents while they just lied around the house b/c they were supposedly too sick to work. That poor girl. I remember that. It really pissed me off when she was sitting around with her parents adding up how much money they had and they figured out that they didn't have enough to pay their rent, and her parents were just like "So uh, what are you gonna do about it?" when she was already fucking working all day every day. Maybe I'm being too cynical, but I found it interesting how they never elaborated on what conditions her parents had that prevented them from working. |

The dad I think was just a lazyass. |

I was watching an episode a while back, I dont remember what it was called but one story broke my heart. They followed a kid whose family was incredibly poor,
and they lived in horrible conditions. All he wanted to do was to join the army and get out, he couldnt read very well so he was taking lessons and reading
childrens books with his siblings so he could pass the test to actually get into the army. Then at the end of the episode we find out he cant join the army
because he was on probation for something and he would have to wait like four years before he could join. Anyway, I would like to know what happened to that
guy.
