What was the song for Mark and Chelsie's first dance - it seems so familiar, but I can't quite place it

Both of those hip hop routines looked like they were rehearsed backstage RIGHT BEFORE the actual show aired.

I think Joshua/Katee were probably my overall favorites tonight, but I agree w/ those who said Katee was not that great in the second dance. I thought Joshua
greatly outshone her and I was shocked when the judges were so positive to her.
Mark/Chelsie -- I wasn't crazy about the second one, but heck, it's just fun to watch these two. I've noticed sometimes when the he's making faces when the judges are critiquing (not "bad" faces, just expressive), Mark looks like Pee Wee Herman. Chelsie cracks me up in that she just seems like some gum-popping kid in the interviews, then she comes out onstage so sleek and elegant and all business. I like Thayne and Comfort so much better together than with their other partners, though Thayne still isn't one of my favorites. I hope they both get to stay. I'd like to see Courtney w/ a partner other than Gev. Kourtni/Matt -- He's on thin ice, but she needs to go already. LOL @ Mia's routine. So literal and gimmicky. Why was Nigel such a little bitch tonight? I'm so sick of the "you're not man enough" type critiques. I'd pay someone to go tomorrow night with a sign that read "Butch it up, Nigel." |

Here are some thoughts on the show tonight:
-Mia Michaels is the shit. -My personal favourite of the night was Mia's contemporary performed by Katee and Joshua. Katee stepped it up. -Kourtni did not perform well in the hip hop routine. That routine was one of the biggest duds of the season in my opinion, by everyone involved. -I enjoyed Napoleon and Tabitha as judges. They seem like really pleasant people. -I'm glad Nigel was so critical tonight. I was kind of bored during most of the dances, and I reckon he probably was as well. -Poor Jessica. I'm glad she had a bit of a comeback in Mandy's piece though, I enjoyed that routine. -I agree with the comment posted a few pages back - what's with Mandy Moore and cheesy 80s songs? I'm kind of over it. -For some reason, I'm not feeling the Chelsie/Mark connection. I want to see Mark's solo and I'm getting impatient. -I didn't expect Kherington to step up to the plate this season, but in my opinion she's basically rocking it. -Katee and Josh's West Coast Swing was kind of boring. NOTHING compares to the marvel of Sara/Pasha last season, easily one of the best ever. |

Tonight was an okay show...some good dances (like both of the ones that Katee/Joshua, Chelsie/Mark did). For the men, I feel Matt or Thayne is for sure going
home. Will, Josh, and Twitch will never be sent home of there is another option, and Mark won't be sent home of he's against anyone else. Gev is the
only breaker and has really been improving. That leaves Thayne and Matt. Whichever is in the B3 will leave. If both are there, then Matt will leave (although I
can see them kicking Thayne off and letting Comfort dance with Will.
As for the girls, Jessica's gone if she's in the bottom. The judges hate her (unfairly), which makes me like her more. I don't think she should have been in the top 20 (at all). The only other girls who might leave are Kourtni and Comfort, in that order. Comfort stepped it up tonight and the judges love her, and want her to stay. All she needs is either Kourtni or Jessi in the B3 and a decent solo and she should be fine. Kourtni was bad tonight and has slowly been falling out of grace with the judges. It's between her and Jess for the boot. Am I the only one who finds it odd that people like Jessi and Comfort made the top 20? Were they honestly the best choices? It took Comfort five dances before she finally did a routine where she didn't totally suck (her jive, krump, jazz, and broadway ranged from mediocre to horrible), and Jessica, while she is being treated unfairly by the judges, isn't very good at all, and considering she's one of six contemporary girls, I wonder why she was picked. I actually wish they could just both leave, since even though the judges will feel Comfort now deserves to stay, I hardly see why one decent dance makes up for four weeks worth of disspointment. Even more odd is the fact that people constantly complained that Susie should have never been in the top 20, even though she clearly deserved that spot over people like Comfort and Jessica. I also feel it's a little unfair to compare Josh/Katee to Pasha and Sara, since Pasha is a ballroom dancer, and that would make the routine so much easier for both people. |

Kjerington actually came pretty close to pulling herself back up in my eyes. She actually outperformed Twitch in BOTH dances, was the only interesting thing
about Mia's dance, and actually had a real intensity in the Paso Doble. She's back on my good side.
Joshua's cartwheel was REALLY horrible. VERY sloppy. So some of my favorites disappointed tonight, while one I had been ready to euthanize did much better than I expected. |

My gawd...Mary's screech and laugh were just killing me! It's hideous! And I like Nigel!
My faves are always Josh/Katee, Twitch/Kherington and Courtney/Gev. Altho I think I like Courtney more than Gev. I really HATE Comfort! I don't have a legitimate reason, I just don't feel it. She does nothing for me. I also don't know about Kourtni or Chelsie...they just look like they smell or something. |

I just rewatched some of the routines on youtube, and I change my mind about Kourtni and Matt's hiphop. It wasn't a dud, it was just kind of meh and
will not get any votes. On the other hand, I liked Katee and Josh's contemporary even more this time. It was so difficult and so awesome!
Also, with regards to the west coast swing, I was more disappointed with the music and choreography than I was with the dancers. |

At this point I'm guessing...
Tommorow- Thayne & Jessica are eliminated (So the judges can orgasm and put Comfort and Will together). Next Week- Kourtni & Matt are eliminated. Final 10... Kherington, Katee, Chelsie, Courtney, Comfort. Twitch, Joshua, Mark, Gev, Will. |

dirkismyhomeboy wrote:X My rankings: Josh/Katee - 1st dance amazing, 2nd dance not quite as much but still really good. Mark/Chelsie - 1st & 2nd both great, but each just a half a notch below J/K. Twitchington - 1st one a B, but A+ on the second one. You can mock the choreography if you must, but they had some really incredible performance moments. Will/Jess - 1st dance quite solid and badly underrated by the scumbag judges -- 2nd one rocked. Gev/Court - 1st one a B, but A- on the second one. Would be higher if W/J hadn't been so good 2nd time around. Matt/Kourtni - Sorry, even when they get the moves right their size makes them just physically awkward no matter what they do. And I hate Nigel with the intensity of a thousand burning suns, but Miss Matt was making Tommy Tune look butch up there. Screw the neck comments, if he stuck his ass out any further in some of those poses I'd have sworn he was wearing a bustle. That said, he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Thayne/Comfort - mediocre 1st dance, second one B-. And I prefer giant black holes of testosterone to cheesy fake grins. ps: New choreographer = HAWTNESS. |

WoW! can it be any more obvious which couples are their favorites??? First of all Josh/Katee and Twitch/Kerrington always get the best choreographed numbers, dance styles, costumes, and music. Of course they're going to look better than those couples who have to do "slow hip hop numbers and ballroom dances". I used to think that Josh and Katee were really good, but now I'm seeing that it's not so much their dancing but that the choreography for their numbers is so much more better than the others. Same for Twitch/Kerrington. JMO. |

I could not believe the positive Gev commentary. I actually forgot all about him when trying to remember who were the guys left. And that was after they
introduced them at the beginning. DULL and he's SO limited. I wish he'd just go already. Useless and I think he really drags Courtney down.
I just wish that only Josh & Katee and Mark & Chelsie could perform for the next 8 weeks or whatever it is. With an occasional cameo by Twichington. I like Will and his body is smoking, but that cheesy lame goatee he is sporting has to go. He could look so much better without it. And I think he's good but I swear I'm definitely missing whatever it is the judges see. And both Mia routines were pretty amazing, but Josh & Katee's was my favorite of the season. Oh and I was hating on Discomfort last week, but I thought tonight she was good and looked amazing. And she and Thayne did well together. |

I just rewatched both of the Mia Michaels pieces, and the Josh/Katee routine was one of her best, with interesting moves, lots of great looking lifts. It was complex, intricate work, and the dancers were able to transcend the moves themselves and gave off emotions and feeling. The Twich?kher one was like a parody of contemporary dance. Other than one patented Mia Michaels spazz out, Twich just writhed on the bed. I suppose Kher danced, but between the billowy shirt and the fact that she was standing behind the bed, I couldn't make out much other than some arm movements. Both of them kept slipping down the mattress, which was disctracting. I got the feeling that neither dancer could do anything she wanted so she just had Twitch lie around and hid Kher so you couldn't see her fuck up. Rewatch Twitch -- this is actually worse than having Cedric sit in the corner. He did abso-fucking-lutely jack fucking shit. Oh yeah, he didn't wear a shirt. The Emporer really doesn't have clothes. That was a TOTAL PILE OF SHIT. I am shocked that anyone did anything other than laugh their ass off this hot mess. Twitch MUST be TCO. The pimpage is otherwise utterly unexplainable. To anyone who liked/loved it -- rewatch it and explain exactly what the fuck you are watching.

That's Mia for you -- by far the most polarizing choreographer on the show. I personally can't STAND most of her contemporary routines. Occasionally,
she pulls out something good like last week's group routine, but otherwise, its just FLAIL, THROW YOURSELF OVER THERE, FLAIL AGAIN, BE HUMAN!!! It's
just dull in my opinion.

Jessica and Will - Jive - I was pleasantly surprised here. This genre suits Jessica. She looks good in 40's styling and the cornball faces she makes work
with the style. She danced a smidge better than usual and Will was a smidge less clean ("perfect"), so they matched up better. Overall, the
partnering wasn't as strong as it could have been, but that one amazing trick made up for a lot.
Comfort and Thayne - Broadway - These two were dancing in two totally different styles. She was smooth and languid and sultry. He was explosive and showy. Both did okay on their own terms, but didn't fit together very well. Also, what I missed in their performances were the split-seconds of complete stillness that would make their poses "pop". Kortni and Matt - Hip Hop - I was pleasantly surprised by Matt, here. I think he nailed the choreography and the movement and made it seem natural and easy. Kortni didn't do nearly as well. She felt more awkward and clunky. She also seemed to be behind the beat a lot, and I blame her for their [many] out-of-synch moments… I do have to quibble with the judging. The style of the choreography, it would seem, was meant to be cool and "chill". It wasn't a piece that was about passion and heat - just the opposite, in fact. I think Matt pulled that off nicely. Chelsie H. and Mark - Jazz - I feel bad for saying this again, but Mark just wipes her off the stage in terms of personality and charisma. It's not that Chelsie lacks these things - I actually think she has some personality, and with a different partner, would probably pop more. I just think it would be hard for any of this year's girls to measure up to Mark in that way. I liked but didn't love the choreography. I liked but didn't love the execution. Chelsie's lines, especially on the lifts, were broken at the waist and just not beautiful. While that is probably the choreography, the dancer ultimately needs to wear it onstage. The only thing I really loved was Mark himself… Kherington and Twitch - Paso Doble - Paso Doble is my absolute favorite dance, but with this couple, I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst. They came out somewhere in the middle. I give Kherington credit for losing the smile, but the over-the-top, overacted sneer, while an improvement, was hardly ideal. I think Nappy and Tabs critique about Twitch was spot on - I don't think he slipped into it until halfway through. Mostly, though, I don't think they hit the percussive moves hard enough. With a great Paso, the stomps and claps and slaps should be sharp enough that they could give the drummer the day off and the music would still have all the percussion you need. That didn't happen here. If a couple had given this level of performance with hip hop, they would have been accused of not hitting hard enough. I feel the same criticism applies… Katee and Joshua - Contemporary - What an awesome challenge! To dance perfectly in synch while playing characters so out of sync… To do elaborate, connected coupling work while playing people so disconnected… I was VERY impressed. This was some of the best acting work we've seen on the show thus far this season, and the dancing was great, too. The only problem I had with it was with Katee's ridiculous hairstyle. Courtney and Gev - Hip Hop - Gev finally showed some personality, and I welcomed it. He felt very authentic and natural in his own style. Courtney impressed me by hitting the choreography so hard without becoming masculine. I disagree with the judging and thought this was pretty decent. The only reason I felt it wasn't better was just because the song didn't capture me as much as the dancing didn't. Jessica and Will - Jazz - I hated the first half while they were dancing separately. Jessica looked like she was doing Cinemax soft-core porn, while Will only seemed to be in love with himself. He was Danny 2.0 for sure, and there was no connection between them. When they came together, though, it picked up immeasurably. The choreography fueled the performance and I began to believe a fire between the two of them. Unfortunately, that fire needed to be there from the beginning. Comfort and Thayne - Smooth Waltz - This bored me and I had a hard time paying attention. Comfort had better technique and more elegance than I expected, but Thayne was even creepier than usual. Didn't work at all. Kortni and Matt - Mambo - I am glad that Kortni redeemed herself here. That choreography would have been tough even for a smaller woman, but for her to get her super long limbs to do stuff like that is pretty incredible. However, she was missing the Latin hips the dance needed. Matt had a good carriage, but lacked any and all sexuality. The chemistry definitely was lacking, but individually Kortni did well and Matt did okay. Chelsie H. and Mark - Foxtrot - Mark, I thought, pulled it off well and looked great in the style of a Rudolph Valentino. Chelsie danced beautifully, and while she seemed to mark the right performance beats, I would have like to have seen a bit more oomph in her facial expressions. When she was doing the kicks towards his face, I would have liked to have seen more attitude. Ballroom attitude, but attitude nevertheless. Instead, she had the exact same face as in the rest of the piece To me, Chelsie is like a dancing Carrie Underwood - pretty and talented, but somehow lacking depth and substance. Kherington and Twitch - Contemporary - I've never liked Kherington more than I did here. She felt committed and in the moment more than I've ever seen from her. The technique was a little spotty (one leap that could have been like Will's in the jazz number got about 4 inches off the floor), but she carried it through with her performance. Twitch also availed himself very well and did a great acting job. What I didn't like about the piece was the gimmicky act-out-the-words choreography. Come on, Mia! It doesn't always have to be so damned literal! And, please, somebody tell her that she can't strew flowers across the stage anymore. Katee and Joshua - West Coast Swing - Uh-oh. It had to happen sometime. For the first time, I didn't like a Katee/Joshua routine. I found it inert, disconnected, and frankly, a bit boring. Also, the choreography was so one-sided. It seemed like Joshua was given all of the hard work, while Katee just hit a few poses and mostly stood around. I'm glad that Nigel pointed out the failed cartwheel, but it's no wonder Joshua couldn't pull it off. He had to have been EXHAUSTED after doing all of the dancing for the pair of them! Courtney and Gev - Broadway - I'm not a fan of this style at all. I don't like cheesy, badly-acted, over-the-top stuff. On Broadway, I want to believe and identify with the characters. I couldn't do that here. That being said, I think these two gave what was expected of them. I just didn't like it very much. I do think they could have stood to tighten it up a bit more. Some of the moments were a bit out of synch. My Rankings: 1. Katee and Joshua - Contemporary 2. Kherington and Twitch - Contemporary (for their dancing, despite the cheesy choreography) 3. Jessica and Will - Jive 4. Chelsie and Mark - Foxtrot 5. Courtney and Gev - Hip Hop 6. Chelsie and Mark - Jazz 7. Jessica and Will - Jazz 8. Kortni and Matt - Hip Hop 9. Kherington and Twitch - Paso Doble 10. Kortni and Matt - Mambo 11. Comfort and Thayne - Broadway 12. Courtney and Gev - Broadway 13. Katee and Joshua - West Coast Swing 14. Comfort and Thayne - Smooth Waltz Comfort and Thayne were definitely the worst couple and Kortni and Matt also deserve bottom 3. Who will join them? Will and Jessica, who cumulatively haven't been all that great, but who had a very good night, or Courtney and Gev who were just okay tonight? I'm guessing Courtney and Gev will be in the bottom and Jessica will survive another week. |
