I kinda have to love him by default, then <3 but Katee > Mark. Chelsie's got the technical skill and Mark's got the engaging personality, so they're both quite the pair. For me though, Chelsie carried the hip-hop routine with her facial expressions and really sold it to me. Then again, the camera dude may have something to do with it since the focus kept going on her. No doubt Asuka's better than Jessica, blame the judges for their misjudgement in putting this year's "talent" in the top 20. Can they please just cut everyone except Katee/Josh and Chelsie/Mark? It's obvious that one of them is winning. I wouldn't count out Courtney/Gev yet, though.

I thought that last night, Mark's technical ability FAR outshone Chelsie's. He was much, much cleaner and more precise. Last week, they were both great. You can't fault Mark for the fact that in ballroom dancing, the woman gets the more flashy moves. Week one, I couldn't really tell whether Chelsie danced well or not because her body was lost in that ginormous wedding dress.

Mark is lucky because a) she's highly skilled, trained, and versatile, and b) she's the only girl who matches his acting skills (EDIT -- Maybe Katee, but then it's too Asian). Imagine last night's choreo with Kherington instead and her shit eating grin. There's no way Mark could get that to work. OTOH, Chelsie's lucky to be partnered with Mark. It was so precise, for someone with no experience, and is an incredibly diificult feat of the feet. People who do Argentine Tango professionally complimented his technical skills. Chelsie was indeed a little BETTER, for her experience, and lacked a little in charisma last week. THIS week I would say Chelsie finally matched or even bettered Mark in charisma, mostly because she had the identifiable part of the dance. She was the audience stand-in. If you watch the pops, though, Mark's are MUCH stronger. His lines were a little cleaner. And if you watch his head when he sort of slides it down her arm... very technically well done. I actually believe this duo is INCREDIBLY well-matched. Better yet, they play OFF each other and really compliment each other. Have been a Mark fan since the beginning, and his presence is just forceful (he has the intensity I thought Travis had); but after last night chelise is right up there with him, in my books. one little side note: I think I have fiured out part of why there are so many whiners ("this season sucks") this go-round: a) there are too many cute blondes, making for a less vibrant palette (until last week, I thought they were fairly indistinguishable, though Chelsie stepped up this week, IMO); b) there are too many similar names (I know you think I am crazy for saying this, but I think it really confuses people on a basic linguistic level, and that often causes disconnect, psychologically... rather than try to figure out the difference, the average joe just gives up trying to figure out which is Courtney and which is Kortni); and c) it's not the choreographY that is worse or more boring, but that the choreographERS people like are noticeable missing (Shane, Wade, etc).

If Katee & Josh and Mark & Chelsie continue to turn out great performances week after week like they've been doing, they should be the top 4 without question. They are, so far to me, ahead of the pack.

He is so great in every style, and I can't imagine they're going to be able to throw him. And that's even before we get to his solos, which I expect to be sick. That's not to say that there aren't other great people (and I even prefer Mark, personally), but Joshua is TRULY a remarkable talent.

See - it's stuff like this that I agree with To me - Joshua is the only one who reeeeeeeeeeally stands out at this point. When I watch the pairs dance, I try to focus on each dancer individually, so I can evauluate their performance as a single, not a couple - and he's the only one who amazes me every time There are others who are feeding off their paired chemistry - or one person shines one week and elevates the couple - and the other shines the next week elevating them again But he's bringing it and shining every week It's very early and there's still a long way to go - but based on the first three weeks....I can absolutely see a strong possibility of Joshua winning this thing

The lyrical quality makes it really commercial, but I can look past that. Plus, Mark brought the quirk last night. I love that guy.
