AeroChild wrote: My son has OCD with Panic Disorder. His OCD is a lot like some of the stuff Natalie displays. He gets thought obsessed,(although it's never been
about another person) and he counts shit. His thought obsessions can change on a dime like Natalie's depending on the amount of stress he's under.
The more he obsesses the more likely he is to have a panic attack. He counts shit by the number seven ( like Natalie is obsessed with 7 then 8 and now 9).
Like Natalie, he doesn't trust his judgement enough to make a snap decision. Every decision he makes has to be weighed and measured very carefully and
from every angle (much like Natalie, discussing every secret thing with every person in the house just to get a different take and perhaps get some angle on a
decision that she may have missed) There are a ton of things about Natalie that are different than my son, but several in common. A psychologist has told me
in the past that OCD is never the same for two people and most people who have OCD also suffer from another disorder as well. With that in mind, it
wouldn't surprise me if Natalie suffered from several of the disorders suggested in this thread.

This is by far the best thread I've read in a long time. I really am waiting with anticipation for Natalie's world to start to crumble, and from
reading up on the threads today it looks like it's getting closer.
Can we please find a way to send this description to her, so when she get out of the house she can read it. Out of all the HG's I look forward to seeing how watching this show effects her. |

I like this thread too, but it's making me feel conflicted about my intense aversion to Natalie. (I have no less aversion, I just don't want to be
hatin' on someone with such obvious mental issues . . . .)

Just to throw in a little clinical information- obsessions are thoughts and compulsions are actions. Compulsions are most often activities that the person
finds soothing and engages in the activities as a way of easing the obsessions. For example, one may have obsessions related to germs (constantly thinking and
ruminating about germs) and engages in compulsions (hand washing, counting, etc.) to reduce the discomfort caused by the obsessions. While there are a handful
of 'common' obsession/compulsions (fear of germs/contamination, fear of blood, fear of strange situations), there is no rhyme or reason to what people
suffering from OCD may experience.

Nat's picking up on the Sharonher. and Sheila things is something I've noticed her doing more recently, but what I've been seeing her do
all season is to repeat the words/gyst of the person she's talking engaging in strategy and gameplay. Sort of a perverse mirror persuasion technique.
It's one of the many things that irks me about
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ O fer Chrissakes. She's been hanging out with these people, locked in a house for weeks upon weeks. We all do this to a degree. We also know living in a fishbowl intensifies everything. I'm not saying she's not a little cuckoo, I'm just saying she's not schizophrenic. When shit starts talking back we'll know she's there. She WILL tell everyone, as she'll see it as a sign. As I watched her talking to the GP's doing Sharons voice, my immediate thought was good, since she's leaving they need to get used to someone else. Maybe it's my own colored skew. I still prefer mine to yours. |

There are simple (painless) assessments that can be completed and medication prescribed, if necessary. In this day and age people are too quick to assume that children have ADHD, when in the past that same child and their behaviors may have been seen as 'driven' or 'energetic'. Any decent child psychologist should be able to complete a proper assessment and refer to a psychiatrist, if medication is needed. |

All the above has been done....and has been on ritalin and other meds....his mom has taken him off all of them...did not like the side effects!
A funny thing is...that when he visits me he seems like a normal boy.......and I do not see him as having any disorder except maybe not listening when told to do something...other than that he is very polite and very intelligent.....(and loves being on my computer...he would like to do all schoolwork on the computer......he loves the spell check feature when writing sentences). |

addressed to the principal, SPED coordinator at the school, and the school counselor. Send it certified mail, return receipt delivered. The letter should
state: "This letter is written to request scheduling an IEP meeting to discuss and plan evaluating my child, ___, for possible IEP placement"
