I hate all those anti-smoking commercials. "Edgy" commercials starring teens funded by a billion-dollar trust fund to tell us that tobacco companies
are evil. Fuck off. You're not cool, you're not edgy, and you're not saying anything daring. Go back to the suburbs and count your money, assholes.

I'm pretty sure these commercials are funded by the group created as part of the settlements to the various lawsuits by states against the tobacco companies. I have no problem with PSAs saying "Don't smoke -- you'll get cancer." I can even tolerate the commercials with a woman in an iron lung (though even those seem too melodramatic and pathetic to be effective). But this series of commercials that are just aimed at saying "tobacco companies are evil liars" irritate me . I've never smoked and I have no love for RJR reynolds or any tobacco companies, but I followed some of those tobacco cases pretty closely. The evidence they had against the tobacco companies was ridiculously tenuous. The lawyers knew that if they just found one sympathetic jury, they could bring down the tobacco companies and make billions in legal fees. Fucking whores. |
