Not really.
It's winter right now there, and looking @ Weatherbug for Puyehue, Chile, it's currently 68 degrees at this moment. So just imagine how warm it would
be during the summer months when Survivor would be shooting there (that's even if they choose Puyehue as the summe filming location).

I was sent a PM that said that the location of Survivor 17 is in the country of Gabon in Western Central Africa. This coud be crap but it does make some
sense. Gabon is the most prosperous nation in that area. It's not like Kenya as it has a tropical climate. It's dry season runs from June thru
September which covers the period when they would be filming.

that would be really cool. another inland season like China?It doesn't have to be. Gabon is also known for its beaches (which are in close proximity to traditional African wildlife, so you can find images of elephants on the beach.) Still, I have a feeling if they did Gabon, they'd use its jungles, which are Amazon-like, but also include some of the well-known African wildlife. This is a return to Africa that I would support, because it doesn't look like the Survivors would stay in the miserable dry desert conditions of S3. |

The only thing with Gabon is that I can't imagine what they would call it. Survivor: Gabon just doesn't have a good ring to it, and I can't imagine that people would recognize what or where Gabon is. Where is this tip coming from, by the way? Is it normal for CBS to have the location definite this many months before production? |

They could call it "Survivor: Western Africa" or "Survivor: Africa 2", but those don't exactly roll off the tongue.
Probably just easier to go with "Survivor: Gabon". They can always throw in a cheesy subtitle like "Return to Africa" or something. |

look some poster said, it's the closest they'd get to congo so i expect they'd probarbly just go with SURVIVOR: CONGO or sumfing like that. the average viewer isn't going to be splitting hairs over the exact details. and i fink survivor: congo sounds cool. also since it's an inland location maybe that means we can finally put exile island to bed! anywhere i'm not so sure about the source. i remember tulfan had an "leaked" ASS2 cast list posted on here when everything about fans vs favourites was just speculation, and i can't remember whether his list ended up being right.... |

Nice map, Heliox. I suppose if we're going to take Gabon seriously, then it would probably be a good idea to do research on the two major national parks:
Wonga-Wongue and Lope. From what I've seen so far, both of them have amazing wildlife (elephants, water buffalo, leopards, gorillas), though Wonga-Wongue
is a little more like a savanna, and Lope is primarily a rain-forest with the Ogooue River going through. Lope appears to be the most well-known and largest
of the two parks, but Wonga-Wongue could be a more practical possibility because it's closer to Libreville.

Some of the S16 favorites that I asked about made it to Survivor Micronesia. Don't forget that Probst said that they contacted 20 previous contestants to fool them into thinking that it was a full All Stars. I was the first to mention that Jonny Fairplay was in the cast. By the way, Dani at Survivor Skills has gotten a tip from the same source who gave her the info on the Survivor China location that S17 will take place in Africa. |
