It's been at least 35-40 years. There's been other wars since.
Unless you're like in your 60's or 50's/40's and you knew people who were in the war, I don't think the younger generation would object to
Survivor going there. Plus no one has dies on survivor.

How does anyone not get this? Having a show called "Survivor" in a country where really not too long ago (the majority of the audience was alive
when it happened, and a sizeable portion may have lost loved ones themselves or know someone who did) thousands of Americans died in a controversial war is
just a TAD disrespectful, don't you think? And someone suggested a military theme?? Then why don't we have Survivor Afghanistan with an Al Qaeda theme
and roadside bomb challenges

It's a TV show. It's not like you're going there to shoot a re-enactment of the Vietnam war. Though the military theme is rather offensive but having Survivor set in Vietnam? I don't see the problem. Someone brings up Survivor Auschwitz. I don't see a problem of having Survivor set in there. As long they don't have enslavement theme or genocide theme. I don't see the harm. You guys are being WAYYYY too sentimental. It's like saying no, "We can't do Survivor in China. China is communist. We don't support Communism. It's like we don't care about God." Guess what? It doesn't matter. We're there to see the view and the drama that happens in camps. We don't care about the politics. Plus CSCin3D. Weren't you quitting Survivor? So why do you care? |

LOL @ Dicktaster coming out of retirement. If only he had the courage to come out of the closet as well... not that anyone has any doubts.
Of course I was being sarcastic earlier. Cmon, really?! Showing the beautiful side of Vietnam is the kind of thing Burnett would orgasm over. I think actually it might generate some buzz and have people watching to see what Vietnam is like now should Survivor go there. If they were in decent shape and not too too old, I'd imagine them getting a Vietnam vet to do the show. It could be a good thing. Nothing's taboo on Survivor which is what makes it the best reality show on TV. |

I'm curious. If someone suggests to do Survivor in Germany. Would they be orgasming and said "No, we can't do Survivor in Germany. It's way too soon. German people are evil. They killed many Jewish people."?
or if someone suggest Japan, CSCin3D would probably yell at us and said "Are you crazy? Those Japanese people bombed us in Pearl Harbor. It's way too soon. Plus don't you realize they're our main competitor in car manufacturing?" |

Seriously, sounds like the South Pacific (that's SoPa for the LA crew who reads here) may not be high on the list for sometime. I wonder why they haven't considered Costa Rica? Maybe too populated and touristy now. |

French Survivor (Koh Lanta) did two successive seasons in the Philippines (the first was somewhere on Palawan island, the second was somewhere in the
Caramoan region).
For the life of me, however, I'm still doubtful if US Survivor still has any plans to go to the Philippines |
