And Where Is Scooter Girl These Days? | ||

I totally agree about this board being great during season 3. That was when I discovered this place (I didn't actually join till recently). The countless
trainwreck performances, colorful if hapless contestants, and innumerable other disasters (not letting 4 people sing during the wildcard, continual idiotic
voter choices, death threats to John Stevens, etc.) made for a truly wild and unpredictable ride, especially coming after the smooth (aside from Corey,
Frenchie and the wildcard mess) second season. People here had a LOT of great material to work with and made the most of it! It was only when the horrible
spectacle of Mantasia beating Diana occurred that I got really pissed about the whole season. "Things more ghetto than Mantasia" is still the best
thread EVER.

Diana, with it's sappy rainbow-n'-unicorn lyrics and boring, unoriginal pop-ballad melody. Diana lost fair-and-square because of her lack of stage
presence, lack of charisma, inability to rally her fanbase with great performances in the finale, and irresponsibility with equipment.

You think Ruben IMPROVED? I beg to differ. I say that every one of his performances was the same. If anything, he got WORSE towards the end of the season as his voice began to give out... He won because Clay was annoying. Come to think of it, the same may be true of why Fantasia won... |

Unfortunately, I have to agree that Mantasia won fair & square. The judges blatantly favored her of course, but that's happened with people in other
finals also. As much as I fervently supported her at the time, Diana was not one of my big favs that season and was the wrong person to take on Fantasia. She
should not have been in the finale anyway: Jennifer Vs. Latoya would have been a much better one. In fact, an all black top 3 with George coming in 3rd (and
Mantasia eliminated on Barry Manilow night) would have REALLY improved the season!

I was pissed that Suzy Vulaca and Lisa Leuschner didn't make it to the final 12. Simon really hated them though
I think its ironic that the best guy singer for season 3 (George Huff) was the one that didn't even make it to the semis originally. (He was cut in the last round of hollywood/ first on the alternate list) I did remember about how there were actually 36 contestants in season 3. I remember watching some of the contestants interviews. " Best moment for me was getting into the top 36!" But 4 of them just magically disappeared. |

I expect they will make some big changes for next season to shake things up.
And no doubt they will be hyping season 8 as "The Best Season Ever!!!" |

Perhaps I am the odd one ... imagine that ... but I have enjoyed this season and this board more this season than I did the last two. Season five and six were
both meh. Sanjaya was ammusing ... but that was about it. Jordan was the chubby girl with the nice voice that sings at the Christmas eve church service,
and Taylor was like the sped that they let sing on Christmas eve ... because he is special and it is Christmas after all.

This is definitely one of my favorite seasons and one of the least karaoke-ish. Therefore, I would agree that these are some of the most talented contestants
they've ever had. Now, whether this makes for entertaining reality TV is another story. But I for one am pleased. This is the season with the least amount
of belting ever! WHOO!
And I like the instruments.

I hate the instruments. If the ratings are tanking coz there are no belters and everyone is SO TALENTED, next year belters and trainwrecks, please.

I think they found some people with AMAZING voices this year. Sadly, none of them particularly delivered, and they are all [deservedly] gone now. If Kady,
David Hernandez and Ramiele had lived up to their potential, it would be the BEST season ever...

Allowing instruments totally gives a free pass to some of those less talented musicians who rely completely on their instruments to pull them through (think: Brooke and Jason). Allowing instruments was a dumb idea. Now the true singers are the ones falling behind because they don't have anything to back them up when they give a bad performance. |

Every year they/you say that this is the most talented season ever. Then with a little time and perspective (and some lousy CD sales) the consensus is that it
wasn't all that.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Too bad we can't get there faster. |

3rd Worst ever! | ||

This season ranks 4th in talent IMO. That is 3rd from the bottom and hardly "The Best Ever" which was rammed down our throats for the first 2 months
of the season.

This season still ranks at the bottom for me. The first five seasons always had at least one "wow" performance every week, and this season (along
with season 6) hasn't produced that. Who knows, maybe if one of my favorites wins, i'll like it more than Seasons 3 and 5. Season 5 was awesome, but
the winner does (for me) overall have a lot of weight on how much I like a season, and any of the three in the F4 would have made a better winner than Taylor.

For me this has been Idol's dreariest season. The talent is vastly better than the 3rd season, of course; I think 11 of the finalists are good enough to be
in the top 12 (since Amanda screamed her way thru all 5 of her performances, we never did find out if she could actually sing) but the raw talent has not
translated into a lot of great performances or a lot of singers I'd be happy to be see win. The problem is that everybody seems so gray and desperate.
Nobody even dresses colorfully. The contestants all know that few people aside from some of the winners, Clay, Daughtry, Jennifer (who still has no CD out) and
some country singers has gotten much of a career out of this, and they also must know the final will probably come down to the two Davids. The judges seem
tired, the contestants seem tired (I'm especially thinking of David Archuleta, who makes John Stevens look energetic) and even sucksters seem tired of it
all. Talent-wise, this is an average season; but whatever magic the show had is almost done.

I think what kills this season is the pre-hype "most talented top 12 ever!" by Simon.
Because of it, many of us just expect too much, and unfortunately so do the contestants (i think it put a lot of pressure on the contestants) if Simon just said "i think it will be a great top 12, but still we have to see how they are doing later", it would be different. I dunno, that's just my take |
