Between Split Enz, Crowded House, The Finn Brothers, and his solo stuff, I think Neil Finn's capable of a breakout streak in him at some point that'll nudge him up to that level.

Still, I'd give them props for popularizing jazz fusion/pop. Hell, they're worth including for Terry Kath's guitar work alone.

She's got the songwriting chops, she just needs to get some better production, get a little rougher around the edges, surround herself with some really talented band members, and take more risks in the studio. But she's a hell of a songwriter.

Still, Queen, Van Halen & U2 gotta be included. RNR was still alive after '75, just inflicted with Disco and Pop cancer. Not sure if New Wave or Punk ever got to the stage of having a lasting influence, SJ (if you might have to include the Tubes for their early influences).
