Also, the second post-merge episode still ranks as perhaps my favorite in Survivor history. And probably the least-predictable F4 ever.

I'd be interested in re-watching Marquesas, mainly to see if Vecepia got as little screentime as I seem to remember her getting.

I do think that Tijuana's boot was pretty cool in the way it happened because it really enforced how the season would be about the power constantly shifting. I thought the Darrah boot was great too (yea, the twist with no immunity sucked, but I think Fairplay was killing everyone else and probably would have won). Just when you thought Fairplay might acutually be done, SUPRISE he shifted the target onto not one, but two other people. And who can forget Lill totally pwning his ass later in the finale lol? About Marquesas though, what about Gabe's boot episode? I haven't seen it in a while, but I've read your stuff on it, and I know you don't like at all, and frankly, I don't remember liking it that much either. That's when my real hate for John Carroll started. |

Well yes and no. I mean I hated it when I happened but if you look at the big picture, it sets the tone perfectly for the fall of the Rotu Four a few episodes later. So even though I thought it sucked what happened to Gabe, in terms of having an awesome story arc it couldn't have worked out better. For terms of the overall story I thought the Gabe episode was awesome. |

Really? What about the final six episodes of Pearl Islands? Those were fucking epic. Those were pretty good, but Marquesas from start to finish was a fucking FLAWLESS season all around. |

When I rewatched Marquesas I too discovered how much I like Sarah Jones and disliked Gina Crews. Gina Crews at best came off as passive-agressive and at worst
a slightly less bad version of Jenna Lewis (In-the-game Jenna, not 'ho Jenna).

I wouldn't call it completely flawless. Those few episodes while they were pagonging the Rotu4 kinda dragged...

After re-watching Marquesas, Sarah was the first Kim Mullen. Originally hated her, but seemed a lot more intelligent in hindsight. But like Kim M., she really
didn't do anything to change the tribe, but only had the right ideas. It seemed like she didn't care, and she really did isolate herself from
NuMaraamu. But she was actually a nice person, and had nothing but nice things to say about Gina, and from what I've read, the two were actually friends in
LL. But I can understand Gina's perspective that Sarah was lazy and didn't do anything really.

Does Sarah have a sex tape out yet? Mm.
The only thing that would have made Marquesas better, obviously, was a Kathy win, who would be the best winner ever. (Sans Cirie if she wins Micronesia, kthnx.) But Vecepia's one of the more underrated winners, and is personally one of the better ones for me. |

Kathy was shocked to saw her son, Patrick. He arrived in Marquesas to see his mom in t.ears. When Kathy won the reward challenge, she bring Patrick on Soliantu
merge camp.

Kathy played a very conservative end game, so I could never say she got robbed or 'should of' won her season. She wanted to go to the final three with Pappy and Neleh before Vee won immunity. I'm not sure how she'd have made the final two with that strategy. She blew her game not pairing with the General. |

I love the Marquesas season -then again, I was so into all those first four seasons. Alhtough this was the first season to start drastically ignoring large
chunks of people and groups -huh? who's Tammy? There's a Rotu tribe other than Kathy? The look and feel of the show is fantastic -the waterfall! (I
wish there had been a way to set up the waterfall to be the common aread between the two tribes and be a "nuetral" zone where tribes could possibly
cross plot if they wanted. The duds were duds, but the developed characters were outstanding -Kathy, Boston Rob, Sean -whether you liked them or not.
I still don't understand how Kathy could team up with The General though? I mean I understand it in theory, but have no idea how to execute that plan without it being incredibly risky and foolish and quick to sell her out. The discussion during the final four and five councils are what should happen every season. Borneo and Marquesas are the ones I always go back and rewatch. The other seasons really are just collecting dust for me. |

What was that quote from Rob M. about Zoe lying? That had to be one of the best Survivor quotes ever.
|
|||
The Marquesan Godfather |

Basically, Rob confronted Zoe in front of Kathy about the secret Rotu alliance. He asked her if she said she'd vote out Kathy... Zoe delays answering for
what seems like a million years, saying "No" in a most unconvincing manor.
Rob replies, "You paused. And you lied." Poor Zoe. The switch and John's scheming really forced her into the Rotu 4 alliance. |

I believe the quote you are referring to is, "Zoe, I find you amazing." Or something like that. |

Finished the last pre-merge episode. Really did not fall in love with Gina as I did the first time around. Her glares at Sarah, how much she complained about
her tribe...how many times did she have to tell the story about how much she loved Hunter? She wasn't awful I just didn't like her as much. Still love
Neleh and Paschal and I really did like NuMaraamu a ton. Despite her early visibility, Vecepia has now basically disappeared these past two episodes. Maybe a
confessional or two but I don't really remember her saying anything besides right after the mix-up.
Speaking of the tribe mix-up I would love if they did that again. Not the even switchups we've had recently (when was the last true mix-up? All Stars and even that failed). Keep the tribe numbers the same but just make it completely random. I remember how much I loved it when NuMaraamu complained at Jeff about the reward challenge results and had to roll my eyes at Rotu justifying their loss, "Oh we'd get stomachaches." And John is just ridiculous, all of the Rotu 4 are so I will be excited to see their downfall (and when they start turning Tammy into a villain once John is voted out). |

I think it is valid to say that Robert would have been an useful counter alliance against possible bloc of Neleh/Paschal or Sean/Vee. No one knew how much Sean
hated Neleh. Had surviving Rotu knew that, they would have campaign much harder against Neleh.
With that being said, Kathy should have done more with Robert convincing either side to oust to drastically reduces tight bond (Vee and Sean will never betray each other due to racial issue and Paschal and Neleh will never betray each other due to father/daughter which is even more sickening than Rodger and Elizabeth) |
