agreed Borneo was the best.. i was 1 1 at the time, and all the neighborkids were going in to watch this show.. so i watched the finale, first episodeever and
was hooked. And to be a partof something that was watched by 55 million ppl is awesome.. Plus that finale was the first episode of survivor i had ever seen so
that will always be special for me....

Well let's see...
Borneo was okay, but the lack of audience and applause and stuff lessens it. Australia was pretty boring and Jeff took WAY too long before reading the votes. Africa was boring. Marquesas was very good because of how up in the air it was once both Pappy and Kathy were out. Thailand sucked because Brian won. Amazon sucked because Jenna won (which was only sucky because of the shitty edit Jenna got compared to Matthew and Rob) Pearl Islands was awesome. All-Stars was just lame, and the proposal made it worse. Vanuatu was very good. Palau's finale was like, the one good episode of the season. Guatemala was great. Exile Island was a disappointment as the best two of the final 4 were taken out before the final 2. Cook Islands was climactic, but boring. Fiji was boring and lame because of Dreamz. China was disappointing because Amanda is just so damn pathetic and Denise is worse. Top 3 are Marquesas, Pearl Islands, and Vanuatu I'd rank them Vanuatu (for Chris' jury performance and underdog win), Pearl Islands (for Fairplay turning the women on Darrah, Lill owning Fairplay, and Sandra winning), and then Marquesas (I wanted Kathy to win ;_;). |

Yeah, me too. I guess the reason I'm a little weird is that the finale of Borneo was the big "thing" for me. Not Star Wars or the Super Bowl or
some big life moment. I can probably count one one hand the number of days in the last 8 years I haven't watched at least one episode of Survivor

Ive enjoyed all of the finales, but the boring ones for me were Marquesas,Palau,Guatemala and China(somewhat)

Well aside from the epic Borneo, I would have to go with PI. Going with the rest of that amazing season, it was totally unpredictable, fun, and suspenseful.
It also felt very real, just as much as Borneo's did. I'd also give an honorable mention to Palau...well until Ian quit. Before that though it looked
like it might be one of my favorite episodes ever.
As for the bad ones, Amanda's implosion puts China up there. It was disappointing and almost upsetting to watch her self-destruct. ASS was just meh, and the proposal didn't help. I would say Marquesas's was awful two, mainly because it was my least favorite F2 ever, and I was crushed when (and the way in which) Kathy was booted. |

Out of all the finales, I think that Africa is the one I remember the most vividly. Mainly because it was a big deal that the fan favorite actually won Survivor for a change. Up until Africa, the common belief was that the most popular player/tribe (Rudy, Kucha, etc.) would never win. They would always be taken out as being too big of a threat. So when Ethan actually won Survivor, it was a very pleasant surprise for a lot of Survivor fans. At the time, I remember that episode as being a really big deal.

Yeah, Ethan winning was a big deal, but the fact that he was against Kim and had no way of losing made it really predictable. The two previous seasons were
really vlose in terms of the Final 2 vote. Africa's finale brought a predictable outcome (the only one in the first five seasons).

Yeah but at the time I would guess that something like 90% of the Survivor world wanted Ethan to win. So who cares if it was a blowout? That was the first finale that actually ended the way that most people wanted it to. I think a lot of people were turned off by Richard winning and Colby losing. Ethan was the first winner (at the time) that almost everyone wanted to win. In terms of sheer cultural significance, I think that was a really important Survivor moment. If an unpopular Richard had won three times in a row, I think the general audience would have started to lose interest. There's only so many times a Survivor gamebot can win before it starts to become predictable. |

And I don't want to hear "But Richard was the much better winner!" because that certainly wasn't the consensus opinion at the time. Go watch the Borneo reunion again. A good chunk of America was PISSED that Richard ended up winning. Anyone who says otherwise either wasn't there at the time or is just practicing revisionist history. Even though I wanted Richard to win (and a lot of hardcore fans thought the same way) we were definitely definitely in the massive minority. Richard Hatch winning actually ruined the show for a lot of people. |

Marquesas is MY personal favorite. I was so happy to see Vee win and it was hysterical that Neleh sucked horribly in the final tribal. And it's even more
funny that people think she should've won over Vee.

I agree that Ethan's win was a great thing for Survivor and most people loved that he won. But, it would have been a much better finale if he was against
Lex becuase he would have made the vote closer, or at least look like the vote could be closer. I'm not arguing that Ethan winning made the finale good
(becuase it did). I just think Kim in the final 2, made the final worse then it could have been.
Ethan vs. Lex = Fan favorite beats villain Ethan vs. Kim= Fan favorite beats non-entity I'll take the former. |
