Bullshit call. Though when you turn into the Mets and go 0 for 9 with RISP you probably shouldn't win the game anyway.

That call didn't affect the game in the slightest, right? the batter at the plate for the last out needed to score eventually anyway for the phils to tie

It's not even debatable . Even Helen Keller would have made the same call. He ran into the fielder and made no attempt to slide or get out of the way.
Brainless move by the Standing Hawaiian. |

Not that it matters, Phillies weren't gonna win that game anyway. Clutch hit and Carlos Ruiz go together like New York Mets and Postseason appearance.

I've seen the Phillies come back from 7 down in the 9th before. Waving the white flag seems to come a tad to quickly here.

um, yeah when the phillies have been 0 for 9 the entire night with RISP, you have two outs, and its carlos ruiz at the plate, the game's over.

They're horrible. In every facet of the game. I can take the Cubs losing. I've done it for 24 seasons now. But this is the most embarrassing
display I've ever seen from them. Fortunately, it's still a little early and they may be able to turn this game around. :hopes

There's no telling what all these desperate, superstitious Cubs fans might do after this latest travesty. Steve Bartman and every black cat in Cook County
should take cover.

Well they had a chance there and nothing

There's no telling what all these desperate, superstitious Cubs fans might do after this latest travesty. Steve Bartman and every black cat in Cook County should take cover. You know what? As a Protestant, I'm going to blame whoever the idiot was that let that Catholic priest bless the dugout with pope juice before the first game. In my desire to uncover some conspiracy that Wrigley Field was built over indian or voodoo burial grounds or something like the Superdome, I discover it turns out it was built over the Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary. So is it any surprise that Martin Luther + pope juice = choke city? I think not. |

It wasn't a Catholic priest. It was a Greek Orthodox priest.

Gonzalez letting the ball at shortstop go through his legs and Mark Prior crapping the bed that allowed the Game 6 debacle to happen. Well at least the Cubs aren't getting shut out in this one anyway. And as always... wait til next year... tomorrow is another day [/scarlett o'hara] and all that. Go National League regardless. |
