i swear to god the fucking mets bullpen is contagious...someone stick all their asses in a fucking bubble...thats now 9 runs allowed in the 8th inning of the
last two games! we probably didnt allow that many in the 8th with a lead going into it in all other games combined.

ugh what a disappointing loss and will probably mean the phillies go 1-3 in this series at best.

Yea this one hurts. Changes the whole complextion of the series.
I can't believe he brought in Madson of all people. Even with a three run lead. I've never seen a guy who throws the ball hard right down the middle as consistenly as he does. Bum. |

Another day. Another Cubs win. However, I was watching the other Grand Slam on TV. Just as long as the Cubs win on Saturday...

The Rays are officially no worse than .500 for the first time ever. And the flogging on attendance continues, now at the national level. Rightfully so I guess. RIP Mariners... SI had them going 80-82, placing second behind the Angels. So much for that. Hang in there Nats - the Pirates and Reds aren't even trying at this point. I leave you with the best pic I snapped at spring training... PRESCIENT

I don't ever recall seeing so many members of the Phillies Nation out in force before (who knew there was a Phillies Nation?). It was a little odd. Damn
shame for them all.

Everytime I think that the spirit of Babe Ruth has left the body of Mike Fontenot, he comes up with something big. From the first inning, I knew the Cubs were
going to have to wait to get Hamels out if they were going to do anything, I was just hoping it wouldnt go straight to Lidge. The rest of the pitching matchups
clearly favor the Cubs, but I wouldnt be surprised if the Phils take one just the same. I know that the wife beater gave us some trouble last time we faced
him, and Saturday hes up against Lilly, whose been steller as of late, but leads the league in home runs allowed, and the Phillies are a team that could
capitilize on that.

Cubs have won 6 in a row. Anyone know what their longest winning streak is this season?

One of my all time favourite players to watch. Sigh, the Sillies have just clinched the pennant:
Phillies Acquire Matt StairsPosted by Tim Malcolm, Fri, August 29, 2008 09:07 AM
Stairs, a left-handed designated hitter who can play the outfield and possibly first base, is hitting .250 with 11 home runs and 44 RBI for the Jays this season. Hopefully this isn't one the better prospects leaving. As it stands, Stairs is an automatic improvement on Geoff Jenkins, who is on the 15-day DL. |

It's not inconceivable. However as a lifetime Cub fan I am still in pessimist mode....bordering on cautiously optimistic.

Cool stat of the day.
If Tommy Glavine retires, he'll have started and ended his career with bookend 2-4 5.54 era seasons. Zeep you wound me everso. I take solace in the fact a little piece inside of you was hurting too. eta- So DeBrun, you're saying Stairs is a step up from Jenkins then? Heh.

Blanton vs Hardon. Yea, this won't end well.

You mean Bloaton...and lay off the Canookian bud.
+ the Cubbies are 28-12 since the Harden trade.
