And yet another sweep for the Mets........Yessssssssssssssssss!
The Sillies broke the Nats losing streak of 12 games, now that's a real accomplishment. Congratulations StarRider you must be so proud of your team. |

There is nothing more beautiful than a Mets sweep of the Braves. Mets 9 wins in last 10 games.
Bye bye Bobby. Hit the showers:

Gardenhire beats Scioscia in a National League-style chess match.
Standing in K-Rod's shadow is Joe Nathan, who after tonight has 35 saves and 60 K with a 0.98 ERA in 55 innings. Oddly enough he has no record. The Twins' record, meanwhile, now ties them for the wild-card, presenting the very real possibility that both Boston and New York could be shut out of the playoffs for the first time since realignment. |

I'm on my way to Flushing to see King Johan the Great pitch for the first time at Shea. It will be an incredible honor for yours truly to be in the
presence of royalty. I will also be in attendance for God's next start this Wednesday in Philly. I can't possibly pass up the opportunity of watching
King Johan school a major league lineup and make them look like a bunch of little leaguers. Again.
I see some of the Phillies fans have neglected to discuss their team in recent days. I can't fathom why. Of course, if the Phillies win a few games and the Mets struggle this weekend, StarRider will start posting again like the true fraud he's proven himself to be. It's kinda hard to "flame" the Mets by saying they beat up on bad teams when your own team loses a home game to the Nats While Luis Ayala was picking up his first win, the guy he was traded for (Anderson Hernandez) was a significant contributor in helping the Nats beat the Phillies. Priceless. Like the true die hard Phillies fan he is, StarRider is wearing his Greg Maddux Braves jersey and will be rooting hard for him to pitch a gem in CBP tonight. One can only imagine how distraught he must be that his beloved Braves just came to Shea and got swept up like yesterday's garbage. btw- I can't think of a more perfect game for "Church" to return than the night God is on the mound pitching for the first place Mets. |

the minnesota twins are actually pretty amazing in that nobody ever expects them to contend yet they always seem to be in it. after trading away santana people
weren't expecting them to be horrible but i think a .500 season was probably the most even the most optimistic fans were hoping for.

The Bostonian Godfather wrote: What a miserable second half of today's game at Wrigley. Actually the first half wasn't all too great from where I was sitting. I put off getting a ticket until a few weeks ago and got stuck with a ticket in the Upper Deck last section in left field, two seats from the end in the sixth row. I have a crick in my neck from having to look sideways to see the batter. At least I now know that I need to get my eyes checked because I couldn't tell D Lee from Ryan Theriot when they were at bat! However, I did have a great view of the guy catching Mark DeRosa's homer on Waveland Ave. The hour's delay because of rain also didn't help the day. I left at the end of the eighth so I could get the last express train of the evening from Union Station. What a waste of a day. Hopefully tomorrow when I'm sitting in an Upper Deck box seat, the Cubs will decide to beat the worst team in baseball. |

Roy Oswalt is a stud. He pitched a complete game 4 hitter, retiring the final 20 hitters he faced in a row. 20.
And lost. To God. Who is 3-0 this month with a 1.48 ERA in the month of August. Mets win 3-0, their 10th in their last 11 games. Speaking of the Sillies next week, once again, Cole Hamels is passing over the Mets for the 3rd time. |

To God. Who is 3-0 this month with a 1.48 ERA in the month of August. He's up to his old tricks. He's good in the first half. He's something indescribable in the second half. i think a .500 season was probably the most even the most optimistic fans were hoping for. I'm not shocked they're this good, but I don't think anyone thought they'd be at the top of the standings, because the Central was supposed to have all the solid powerhouses this year. |
